I personally really like the ISO on the shutter dial, like my Nikon FM2N that I still use, it is a great throwback to the overall tactile control and retro look that the XPro is based on. And moving the ISO to a dial where the viewfinder is, would mean the camera would either have to be bigger, or change something in the OVF/EVF and perhaps make it not as nice.

Understand and good points. As mentioned it’s a personal preference on my end but know there might be issue design wise.

Agreed.. ! Having shot the xp2 for years, that dial is awesome... took like a min. to get use to... but without changing finger position, I can almost instantly change my shutter speed, and iso... again without moving my finger position... with the other hand on the AP ring on the lens... it makes this design faster to adj on the fly than any of my Canon or Nikon body's....

You can easily dedicate the front dial to iso by putting the iso dial to c the front dial is iso, it’s very well placed and easier to use than the top dials.

Greetings Mr. Tonelli. Thank you for your hands-on review of the XPro3. Just coming off from a Nikon system and I've decided to go Fuji as my next set of photography gear but for hobbyist purposes only. I'm considering these options: 1. XT4 2. XPro3 3. XT3-X100v Combo Here are some key factors which are essential in my decision: 1. I'm not a Vlogger and planning to use the fuji cam for general stills/documentary photography (portraits, famil, street, food, travel) 2. LCD construction issues a. They say that the XPro3's LCD would be the toughest; 2nd is the XT3's; 3rd is the XT4's b. If I were to choose the XPro3 and I will be using its EVF to chimp, do captured images displayed over the EVF render good/natural colors VS the LCD? c. I'm interested to shoot waist level more often. 3. Taking into consideration the XT4's: a. Improved AF b. IBIS c. 300K rated shutter actuation d. Longer battery life 4. Durability/Toughness? [Reviewers are saying the XPro3's the toughest of them all. Aren't the XT3 and XT4 built as tough? 5. Functionality/Useability. You see I'm drawn to the XPro3 aesthetic but for many, they say that the XT4/XT3 are easier to use. In fact, Fuji youtuber Andrew of Andrew & Denae made a video for it saying that he won't recommend the XPro3 for new fuji users since one may need to access the LCD often to check or change settings. Here it is [kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZvbf5V_d6t8Zpo - Jump to 9:22]. Was he right in his assessment? Is the learning curve really difficult? 6. Also What do u think of the XT3/X100v combo? It's because I'm also interested in carrying a semi compact cam on a daily basis as the XT3 may be quite large for me. Your personal opinions or suggestions would greatly be appreciated, Mr. Tonelli. Thank you.
@TECH360TV4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the message. I also agree with Andrew on the Xpro3. It might be a bit too unique for a first time fuji user. Its a great camera but the display can be limiting for some. The XT4 has a better build than the XT3. Not sure what it is but I’m not the only one who felt it. It feels great to use. However if you want to shoot waste level on the XT4 you need to flip out and rotate the display. The X100V from people I know really like the camera. I held it briefly and I like the build quality over the XPro3 but that’s a personal take. The best combo in my opinion would be the XT4 and X100V but that’s all depending on ones budget.
@nathanielngosy4 жыл бұрын
@@TECH360TV I see Mr. Tonelli. Just thought that maybe the XPro3's the most durable of all but since you yourself held it and described its body section as underwhelming and a bit cheap, I trust your judgment. Oddly enough, one reviewer did say that the XPro3 for him had that WOW factor over the XT4 and said that the latter feel's plasticky. Yes, Mr. Tonelli, it really depends on the budget. Maybe the best combo would be the XT3/X100v for now. But still considering the XT4. Thank you for your time. :)

If Fuji developes the next X Pro 4 with specs close to the Leica Q2 I’m in for 2 g’s. We’ll see what manufacturers release in 2020, I feel we will be closing in on medium format sensors this year. Too many of us have full frame lenses and Fuji STILL doesn’t put one in one of its consumer bodies.

Actually the GFX50R and S are the consumer medium format cameras. The tech the GFX100 has will come down in price and availability and when that happens it will be a game changer on top of what they already have done. It is what Leica would build if it had the ability to do so. It is a superior experience now than any of the Leica's. That is the sad truth...and it is 1/4 the price. You simply cannot beat it. I can afford the Leica's. I wanted and still want a Leica because of the legacy and the warm images....but the Fuji, hear me out, can and does do equally nice images and the jpeg shooting options with the film sims is simply another level above anything Leica is doing. That is really the key here. Leica is gen1 in image settings. Fuji is gen 4 or 5 now.

Thank you. I thought I was the only one to complain about Fuji's complete inability to match colors. I had a X100T. I got the F and the nobs didn't match. They matched the silver X-T3 though. Probably contract these parts out and must have fired the guy that MATCHES THINGS UP. I got a silver T3. Did it match the silver 23mm f2 lens? What do you think? The lenses are a fair excuse for silver but the body is definitely Zinc that seems to turn blue as soon as you put the lens on. Great cameras and I don't understand this. $200 for the scratch resistant coating. For that much money they could have provided a matching metal hot shoe cover. This is weird about Fuji. I got a Pro3 and though I'd have loved to have the classic looking silver-ish version I knew they'd screw something up. "Black. They can't possibly mess up black." I paid $200 extra for a "silver" X-T2. At least the hot shoe cover wasn't black plastic but wasn't even close to the color of the camera. No room in $200 to spend an extra one or two on a frickin' hot shoe cover? The mind starts to wonder what corners were cut inside if they have to skimp on hot shoe covers and cheap plastic lens hoods to stay afloat. "Maybe that satisfying heft isn't really electronic marvels but old lead fishing weights they got a deal on at a flee market." "Why you comprain? Dark grey crose enough." NO, not "crose" enough! I had a Contax G1 with a flash, 3 Zeiss primes with hoods, and a little metal hot shoe cover in a cool champaign color AND EVERYTHING MATCHED PERFECTLY AS IF ACTUALLY MADE BY THE SAME COMPANY. Your review is the only one with the courage to point out that they didn't bother to match the nobs and there's absolutely nothing wrong with being annoyed about it. Since you're a Leica guy let me tell you then that they do this all the time. Maybe the Fuji executives go around in navy blue sport coats with black pants and just don't get it. If people complained Fuji might take notice, but I've found most Fuji owners are like cult members that fear they'll go to Sony hell if they criticize the leader. I actually love Fuji cameras almost as much as writing satire, but maybe they need to break with cultural tradition and hire a woman with the title, Executive VP for MATCHING STUFF.

@@TECH360TV Unfortunately? You brought it up. I was just agreeing that if Fuji wants to put out a top quality heirloom product they need to follow through and do it. That's a $2000 camera. On prior X-Pro models they also had a dual magnification on the OVF one could toggle which made a wider range of lenses usable. By alternating the frame lines for the 23mm and 35mm were the same. That was unfortunately removed. What I wrote was mostly for entertainment but there was central point. They could have also implemented that to the Xpro3 with success.

Apparently this guy doesn’t understand that retro looks come from vintage cameras not from months old DSLRs. Of course the shutter speed and ISO are combined because on vintage cameras the shutter speed and ASA dials were combined!

I actually don't mind the dual dial now. I think people got used to it since having the xp1 and 2. Also, never noticed the plastic feel of the black texture. Maybe because the whole camera is solid feeling. I feel nothing but quality holding it.

You keep going on about paying a premium can I ask you compared to what??? Maybe the 10000 Leica that’s the only thing you can compare it to.So now it’s not premium in a bloody bargain for what you get.
@TECH360TV4 жыл бұрын
Since the X-Pro3 is the premium camera in Fujifilms APS-C lineup I’m comparing it to that. My reference to Leica is how does it feel to use. For example the materials used on theGFX100 for the grip area are better than the X-Pro3. They could have easily used that but chose not to.

The xpro looks so good. The design is amazing. But the camera is definitely not for me. Is like , i love it but i dont want it (unless some one gift me one for free 🌝) im good with the xt3.

Love the X pro3 but is too expensive. flipping scream make no sense. ( the screen .. can't Push it down 45 degree. ) Most Ppl who bought X pro3 is because of the design... old classic beautiful gorgeous camera and the film simulation.. when you hold the camera on the street and you look different. That Fuji selling point .

I like the flip screen but understand it’s limitations aren’t everyone’s cup of tea.
@llr3zall1514 жыл бұрын
Funny how a claimed LEICA user calls the OVF a GIMMICK!!! There are DISTINCT advantages to using a DIRECT optical viewfinder, whether it has a built in rangefinder or an autofocus system. Yes, the Leica viewfinder is bigger and brighter, but to call the x-pro3 OVF a gimmick just shows that you dont undrestand what it is there for...
@TECH360TV4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. Sincerely I would like to know what the OVF has on a camera like this over the in built EVF? OVF limited in Low light, you can’t zoom in to nail focus on a fast lens. The OVF is small on the XPro3. If I’m using film simulations I can’t see them in the OVF. Perhaps a number of years back I would understand especially with the limited tech for an EVF at the time but today the technology is there and the need for an OVF on a camera like this isn’t needed in my opinion. OVF come into play more when shooting sports and wildlife I feel. But even then the newer EVF’s are getting close to the same feel. And yes even on Leica cameras there are limitations with OVF.

Why do you keep saying premium. Leica is premium, Fuji is affordable. Affordable comes with some setbacks in quality.
@TECH360TV4 жыл бұрын
Because part of the marketing was the craftsmanship and premium build of the camera. Fujifilm makes very nice cameras, and some cameras have better materials than others

If it’s a “Pro” series camera then fuji should remove the amateur exposure compensation dial and make that the ISO. Don’t know why this exposure dial still survives. While they’re at it get rid of the Auto aperture and auto ISO. That’s very “pro” is it? Food for thought.
@chirag44 жыл бұрын
interesting, sounds true. Thanks.
@TheIkaika7774 жыл бұрын
What is “pro”?
@1fareast144 жыл бұрын
I'd ask for the opposite. Allow the user to use the dials to control the auto exposure, so set max aperture, min shutter, max iso. As for the word 'pro', it's meaningless. The x-pro1 and 2 were marketed off the weather sealing, dual card slots, and hybrid ovf. Now fuji have decided they'll make more money by courting film shooters. I'm not sure any pro would ask for no dpad, do ovf magnifier, and this screen design. I'd think that pros value a certain degree of automation, but the truth is their preferences are as variable as among the rest of us. As for the iso dial, I agree that it should be its own dial, which means some other feature needs to move. I'd be ok with losing esposure comp, so long as I could customize it to a press of the rear command dial.

Fuji made a rangefinder medium 6X7 camera that was very good but naturally a bit large in the hand. They angled the right side where the dials and shutter release were to make it easier to handle on such a large body. A great idea. NOT a great idea on a camera the size of the Pro3. Form follows function and apparently they forgot the original function for the angle and used it on the Pro series. DUMB. First it creates the optical illusion that the whole thing is a wedge. But more importantly, instead of improving handling (the form/function thing again) now on the X-Pro it actually hinders it by giving less height for the hand to grip and places the shutter button too low. I find it always interesting when the original reason for a design feature gets lost but the form remains and no one remembers why it's there. "It's the Fuji signature angle." Yeah, like the three holes on the sides of a Buick engine housing. FUJI, I was hoping you'd dump this on the Pro3. Square up the lines on the Pro4, if any of us are still around for that. Four years is an eternity in camera stuff and who knows, by then I might have saved up enought for a Leica M-10D. And yes, I'd rather have gotten a nice leather type material and a consistent silver color that matches the nice Fujicron f2 lenses than a camera I can now bang with a hammer and scrape keys across when the best solution for that is...DON'T DO THAT..

Well since the camera takes good photos, equals the X-T3 in image quality, the standout feature is the design.
