The screen is major! It could put an end to the tilt vs articulating wars. Im in the tilt camp and cry a little every time an awesome camera gets a fully articulating screen.

If you're not doing 4K or really fast sports id take the xt100 and save myself $300. Full HD 1080p video is just as good and also image quality is the same. I can use those $300 towards a awesome lens 👌👍 Also you can do 4K timelapses.

@5:10 - In addition to a little customization, the small removable finger grip is actually a bit of a throwback to classic film cameras, perhaps most memorably the ever-popular Canon AE-1 and Canon A1. Thanks for the first impressions!
@stevestruthers61806 жыл бұрын
The first time I saw a picture of the X-T100, that's what struck me the most - that is, more than any other Fuji camera, it looks exactly like an old 35mm SLR. The Canon AE-1 analogy you raise fits. This video only reinforces that perception. I laugh a little when people whine about the lack of a grip on some digital camera bodies. Back in the days of 35mm SLRs, up until the mid to late 1980s, cameras had no grip. If you wanted a better grip, you'd buy a motor drive and with some brands of cameras, it had a grip-like protrusion to make the camera easier to handle. Although I will agree that a grip is usually a beneficial thing for any camera.

Nice video.....I was wondering this camera is only restricted to using SDcards version 1 and not 2? Also I like they used the same battery on this camera along with the newer 24mp cameras. I also noticed that this camera is made in Indonesia vs Philipines where Fujifilm is manufacturing a lot of their kit lenses.

The Xc 15-45mm is actually a great deal if bundled w the camera for $100 (I think its $300 by itself). The 15mm is great for vlogging or selfies or architecture, and is much cheaper compared to buying the 10-22 or one of the 14 or 16mm primes. Plus it gets you the range all the way to 45mm. Yes the aperture is slow (3.5 to 5.6 I think), so you're not getting any shallow DOF, but it has OIS which helps w video and compensates a bit. Its great as a general travel lens and is actually the lightest lens in the entire Fuji lineup (I think) - even lighter than the pancakes (18mm and 28mm) because... well, its mostly plastic. But for that price I would definitely recommend it! If you get past the bokeh snob's scoffing at the aperture, its actually very useful. I travel with this on my XE2S and I also have my X100F, and my Lomo LCA+.
@bigheadtaco6 жыл бұрын
Yes I'm sure optically it's decent, especially for video. I don't like the power zoom though. As for aperture, if you're vlogging, I recommend f/8 aperture anyway, so it's fine. I might swap out for XC 16-50mm instead.

It's pretty solid, feels no stronger or weaker than the current crop of articulating screens on Fujifilm cameras. The build quality on the X-T100 feels more solid than the X-T20, although this can just be a perceived quality.We'll see if someone does a torture test :-)
@militarutiberiu25946 жыл бұрын
Very true! Why not a "classic" articulated screen like in gh5?
@bigheadtaco6 жыл бұрын
It was their first attempt to make one and they decided to try it on a consumer level camera. I'm sure the next time we see it, it will be on a prosumer level body, perhaps X-T3 or X-T30, but a proper fully articulating screen.
@AdamKuzniar6 жыл бұрын
What's the difference? Couldn't tell
@Smoothblue906 жыл бұрын
It looks to me like the screen tilts up and down on the hinge mount. So the screen only hinges around, and then can extend out or up or down from the hinge mount. It looks to me like the screen does not rotate around the hinge like the Canon 80D screen does.
@barre26734 жыл бұрын
Really enjoyed the video. I would like to ask as a beginner whose about to buy his first camera do you suggest fuji XT100 or T20?
@vojtechsikora91916 жыл бұрын
I actually don't think that this screen design will make it into the X-T3, because the old design from X-T2 is much more useful for macro, landscape, portraits anything where you sometimes need to shoot low to the ground in portrait orientation. Only things that the screen from x-T100 is useful are selfie, vlogging, which not many people will be buying X-T3 for.
@bigheadtaco6 жыл бұрын
I believe the X-T3 will have a fully articulating screen, which means it can do everything that the current X-T2 can do, but it can also flip closed on the back as well as fully articulate forward. It won't be the same mechanism as the X-T100 I agree.
@sirmacalot94706 жыл бұрын
bigheadtaco thats a bad idea for the XT3, you cant use Arca L brackets anymore. The XT3 is not ment to be a “selfie” camera in my opinion. The XT3 and XH2 screenmechanism should stay the way it is, near perfect for L brackets.

very indepth impression! i like the pricing and features set. few things make me wonder, one is the spec. says XT100 supports auto expoaure bracketing with up to 7 frames, +/- 3ev. That's more powerful than XT20 . second is how is the bitrate of the video for 1080p 60fps. third is why the microphone is 2.5mm 🙄
@bigheadtaco6 жыл бұрын
90% of the Fujifilm cameras use the smaller 2.5mm input jack for microphone (exceptions are the X-T2, X-H1 and GFX 50S). Bitrate looks low, perhaps 50mbps or less. That's probably why 1080P video can go for 30min versus 15min. As for specs, it's really based on the load on the processor, and this one is different from the X Processor Pro. More testing coming up, but Billy did confirm that it's a no-name processor that is not as powerful as the X Processor Pro. I'm not going to expect super high results. It's a consumer level processor.
@Terry20206 жыл бұрын
thx for the detail reply. I am guessing this no-name processor is indeed X Processor Pro or first Gen of X Processor , but with much lower clock speed and functions disabled. Similar to CPU and GPU in the PC market, there must be a different yield in X Processor Pro. It would be wonderful to utilize those so called failed chips. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Product_binning

I remember back before the Canon 80D and before the SonyA6500, there was lots of talk about a camera somewhere between the LX100 / RX100 / G7 X and the 70D. And people wishing for an ASP-C sensor camera the size of the A6300 with the flip around screen and autofocus and mic jack of the 70D but the size of the A6300. The small size of the A6000 and A6300 made people want to jump from 1 inch sensors or micro four third sensors straight to ASP-C. And we still do not have that camera. They all fail in size or screen or mic jack or autofocus or good wide zoom lens. Or how the screen gets in the way of either the shotgun mic shoe or a joby gorillapod / tripod mounting screw.
@Smoothblue906 жыл бұрын
And if you had told me that Sony was going to become known for their full frame cameras and full frame lenses and not have a Canon 80D killer I would have not believed you.

Have people made comparisons between Fuji’s bayer and x-trans sensors? Is there a significant difference these days in low light performance or image quality? I think the raw conversion in Lightroom of a typical bayer sensor would yield better results with none of the smearing that Lightroom is known to do, in Irdient though, I’m sure the X-Trans would be better.
@bigheadtaco6 жыл бұрын
I put a link in description that shows SOOC JPEG comparison between -T100 and X-H1. As for RAW conversion, not yet. LR does not have ability to convert either X-H1 or X-T100

X-Trans sensors are worse. This article describes the issues petapixel.com/2017/01/27/x-trans-promise-problem/ Fuji makes great cameras and people need to convince themselves that their performance isn’t crippled by the sensor so that they don’t feel bad about it. But it s. Lots of people stay away from Fuji because of X-Trans sensors. X-T100 is their ticket into the Fuji world.

My guess is they are about 8-12 months away from making that. If they come out with an X-Pro3 first, they will then have time to miniaturize the current IBIS system in the X-H1 and install in the X-T3. This is my prediction. However, if the X-T3 comes out in a few months, then I think they wouldn't have had time.

It is clear that more 'advanced' focus modes don't work very well on this camera. But what about the simple AF-S center focus point performance? Beautiful dark silver color like the graphite models. Seems weak on the video specs at that price range for a vlogging camera. Funny you mention the mic cord connector on my camera the mic cord connector does get in front of the flip out screen (fully articulating by the way) but it is not in the way of the display on movie mode it has a block showing the size of the image and it is not blocked by the mic connector, I had to go set my camera with its mic to see if I had this too, never really paid attention to, but I don't do selfies or do Vlogs I prefer to be off camera, although I do put myself into my videos in the background at times sort of like Alfred Hitchcock used to do in his movies. The only case I can imagine using 15fps 4K is for a timelapse where I’d speed it up in post but I’m sure the 4K also has a time limit while shooting a timelapse on it a normal way as jpegs would yield better results without worrying about overheating.

They also have 4K burst mode, but agreed. I'd rather just not have 4K. 15fps takes us back to the early 1900s
@dk790276 жыл бұрын
What does 4k burst do? Is it similar to Panasonic 4k photo modes? If so, it can be pretty useful for tracking
@borderlands66066 жыл бұрын
15 fps? That's a flicker book or a zoetrope. Seems a lot of money for what it is. Get a used X-Pro2.
@DeeRenaissance6 жыл бұрын
4k on this is throwaway, but should have had slow mo 1080 to be the blogging camera / entry level cam fuji needs
@bigheadtaco6 жыл бұрын
agreed, but I think the limit is the 'no name' sensor. THey'll need to upgrade that in the future

Hi, how is the AF compare to X-E2/X-E2S?
@bigheadtaco6 жыл бұрын
I don't have the X-E2 with me to compare, but feels similar to last gen X processor, maybe slightly slower.
@JimS0cks6 жыл бұрын
i appreciate that you're the first youtuber being honest with af speed. i have the x-a5, i know the af speed, i see so many other youtubers hyping the pdaf on sensor who doesn't know what they are talking about.

It can operate under low temperature? Let’s say in -10 Celsius?
@bigheadtaco6 жыл бұрын
Only the weather-sealed bodies like the new X-T3 or X-H1can operate at such low temperatures as per Fujifilm.
@senjo245536 жыл бұрын
So which do you think is better x-t20 or x-t100?
@bigheadtaco6 жыл бұрын
Depends what you are doing, but the x-T20 is a higher spec'd camera, but it just happens to be older so it has some features missing (Bluetooth, articulating screen, touch screen, etc.)
@aquag156 жыл бұрын
@bigheadtaco Is it possible for the X-T20 to gain some of the lacking features through a possible future firmware update?

@@aquag15 almost sure Bluetooth is hardware.

It doesn’t have ACROS because ACROS needs the X-Pro Processor.

Sir is this useable for bird photography i want to start
@bigheadtaco5 жыл бұрын
Any camera can be used for anything, it’s just a matter of if it’s up to the level you want. Since you’re starting, I think it will be fine, but it’s a matter of the lenses you want to use. I say you need something that goes to at least 200mm on APS-C format, and longer if you can afford it.

Guess its using the old/current sensor? Should just wait till XT30 comes out with the new sensor... :-)

it's using the latest sensor for the consumer X Series camera, not the more professional X-Trans sensor. This doesn't necessarily mean worse, but different.

Still waiting for Fuji to bring the new film simulation to X-Pro 2 ...

I think Fujifilm is having some firmware issues in terms of having enough people working on it to make sure there's no problems... perfect example is rollback of X-T2 update V4.0 to V.4.01

Fujifilm guys! Can i ask? What lense is good for portrait photography and wedding photography? Lense that is suitable for my fujifilm X-T100. Thanks! I'll wait for your reply. A good lense that is budget friendly i can afford.

Maybe you don't have a system and you want to buy a camera (for around €650 with kit lens) that handles like a camera and not like a gadget (Sony a6000). Maybe pure image quality is much more important than video features or AF speed. And maybe you want 24Mpix APSC sensor. That leaves you with with X-T100 or Canon M50 if I'm not mistaken..
@ShlomoLevi6 жыл бұрын
Peter Koperdan too much maybe, and all of them lie. And first x100 you can find today I For $100 if you want Fuji. Maybe you work for Fuji but not me , so you "forgot" Fuji behavior on sticky apperture story, I'M not. I love Fuji starting from e510 I own like 10 PowerShot s from Fuji and if not all 10 so definitely 8 of them have some glitches. And it's no service in NY I mean $250 for diagnostics and small repair it not service at all. Real price for this kit much more than xt10 with kit ,so why ? Real price on xt100 IMHO can't be more than$200 wit kit $$$$ not fricking &&& so marketologists from Fuji actually will company)((
