Enjoying this build and all your previous builds. Wet sand and polish the paint up to 12000 grit BEFORE clear coat. Then wet sand and polish the clear coat. Lots of extra work,but IMO this is the only way to get rid of those teeny tiny scratches

Try using water through your airbrush to remove the polish from panel lines. Works for me and no chance of brush scratches.

Have you tried using polishing wax to get rid of the very fine scratches in the end? It might work.
@TheScalemodelingChannel7 жыл бұрын
I have tried th 3 stage Gravityr color compound, I also tried the 3 stage Meguiars compound, and also the scratchX and even comandand scratch remover.

Great finish on the paintwork. I often use the Micromesh polishing cloths from 3000 grade up to 12000 grade and then compounds, and always there are left very very fine scratches if you look closely at the clear; I do not think these can be totally eliminated.

I've never used Zero Paints, but am planning on using them on a Benetton B188 F1 car. It's a 4-color scheme. So how long do you leave between coats? And, how long should I wait to mask off for the next color, considering I'll be masking over what was (just) previously painted? Also, I saw another guy on youtube testing the white primer against just applying the (white) paint, and the paint on its own did a better job (no orange peel) -- what's your experience using Zero Paints without a primer? Last, can regular Walmart paint thinner be used for airbrush clean up (Zero Paints says it must be a cleaner containing Toluene, but I believe Toluene is very toxic if I remember my MSDSs). Thanks in advance for your sage help.
@TheScalemodelingChannel7 жыл бұрын
10 to 15 minutes between coats on light colors. atleast 1 or 2 hours before you mask it. I do not advise not using primer. The paint can act strange and bite in to the plastic, or leave wierd marks shown through the paint. I don't know what thinners those from walmart are, so you could try and see.

Do you plug your rotary tool directly into the power converter? Or do you have to have a drill for the attachment?

I put the extention i have in my hand in the proxxon micromot. that plugs in to a power converter that plugs in to the wall.

why u did not sand and polish the whole body. I tried using tamiya 3 polishing compound but it does not have the shine on it worst than just the gloss coat only. i sand it using 1000 all the way to 10,000 after the clear coat 3 layers. Am i doing it wrong or something. I do not have the polishing machine. cheers.
@TheScalemodelingChannel7 жыл бұрын
1000 is way to rough to start with. you need to start with 2500 or higher. And even that is still pretty rough.
@Dillusionz7 жыл бұрын
i followed your tutorial starting with 1500 grid work all the way up. I do not have 1500 so i start with 1000. my model look like part 2 of the polishing. like few scratches and a little flat. i saw the part 3 and after suddenly so shiny. what did you do?

Why in this video you go through the trouble of using so many different kinds of sand paper?

to save some time, if i would start with 12000 grit it would take 4 times longer.
