Please talk about consistency with game assets (my biggest challenge at the moment) and models that take multiple days to make. I usually finish my models in 1 day intervals, but people talk about making models for months and that jump seems very hard. It would also be nice to see various assets from start to finish. Foliage, grass, terrain, landscape features, rocks. If you'll talk about rocks, I'd like to see some workflow that doesn't involved 10 payed programs for a procedural texture.

Hey. So this is the workflow, right? 1. Modeling 2. Bevel if necessary 3. and then Squaring Can you please tell me about "squaring" your mesh? How is it different from subdividing? Wondering what is this procedure called in Cinema4D

she probably referred to topology. model it the way that there are no triangles or >4 polygons anywhere

Ok, i got a question. Say im better at sculpting than poly modeling. Can i retopo over my sculpted model? And if so, how do you retopo over a round helmet and stuff like that? Could i just import a primative in, and somehow "Shrink wrap" it aroumd the helmet for the most part? I honestly need more info on how to retopo hard surface, basically..

I made this in zbrush a couple of months ago lol. Just never got around to texturing the low poly version :(

My 3D modeling lecturer always said to bevel all edges, even if the bevel size ends up being super tiny. He said nothing curves at an exact right angle in real life so your lighting would be off if you didnt bevel everything.

I made a thing! Its a way to master your texturing as much as you want in Substance Painter without having to worry about the stress of making the models! Its called the 3D Coloring Book, and here's your free month to check it out risk free :) bit.ly/2XlWGnK

How do you square everything in Maya? I'm used to working all in maya for my high low but I want to get more into Zbrush and squaring your mesh looks a lot cleaner than praying that Zbrush wont melt your model lol
@x8holly8x4 жыл бұрын
Hey I think I found it so came back to post, I'm not sure if its exactly what she does but might help in the mean time. If you go Edit Mesh -> Add Divisions you can split the model up into equal. Or you can go into Mesh tools -> Edge Loop options and turn on Multiple edge loops and change the number then add the edge loop to your model but that's by hand

For the flag you should just use a cloth simulation then the number of polys wont change

Have you asked the concept artist that you want to make a 3D model of her work or you just create your own 3D model and besides crediting you owe nothing for the concept?
@tammesikkema53222 жыл бұрын
It would be courteous, but to my knowledge it isn't required at all.
@ViktorsJournal2 жыл бұрын
@@tammesikkema5322 Create a 3d model like this (with this amount of similarity) is considered a derivative work, without the consent from the original author it's not ok. Technically maybe for educational purposes but even then they recommend to go this way for your models and such so in this way you could get into troubles. Just crediting the original author is also not enough. All this depends on what license the author released his concept art under. Unless something has changed?
