I discovered how easy IF was when I was hospitalized with metabolic syndrome 2 years ago and was not allowed to eat or drink anything for six days: I never had any cravings or hunger pangs and I learned the benefits of giving your body correct itself. I have watched dozens of You Tube videos on dieting and nutrition over the past two years, and in my opinion, yours lead the pack. Thanks.

So i saw a medical study that showed you shouldn't take BCAA's during your fast because of the amino acid leucine which triggers your brain to be in a "fed" state as opposed to a "fasted" state. The reason I ask is my fast is from 7pm-11am and in the am I am working out 1/2 hour of cardio and 1 hour of weights and I just feel like Aminos as opposed to water will "take me across that line" and have me hungry as opposed to feeling starving.....thoughts?

When do you switch from IF to carb cycling? I guess my question is, do you ever combine the two. Right now I am eating a good paleo diet, but will switch to a carb cycling diet for a month, then I wanted to do a month of IF. Is this ok?

Hey! Your videos are rad, I've been subscribed to you for a while now, you're awesome. My question though.....with sleep and intermittent fasting. The normal person is able to sleep throughout the night which makes the fasting period go by somewhat easier, however, I am a Firefighter/Paramedic and we typically get 3-4 wake ups a night (straight from sometimes deep sleep to having to be on the road in less then 1 min 30 seconds) Does this affect my fasting period? I know you mentioned changing the time frames to what fits, typically I try to workout around 5am because its never done at the station because we are just to busy, so I will be working out, then taking in supplements then starting from there (around 6am) Thanks again for all your videos, hope I'm not too confusing.

Hey dude, love your channel and your vids.....very informative! Quick question for you; I have been exercising (walking/running) as well as doing the 100 sit ups/100 push challenge everyday now for about 2 weeks. Plus, I have been eating clean and going into caloric deficit everyday.....but I am still gaining weight. What the fawk am I doing wrong? Are my macro's just off, or am losing fat and gaining muscle? For reference; I am a male, 6' and weight 212. Love to know your thoughts, thx man!

Nice vid! You mentioned some carb cycling when you were cutting and intermittent fasting. If you dont mind me asking, what was your schedule? Ex: 3 low carb days, two medium and one high? How many grams were your med. and high days? Thanks for keeping it real! I do all my shopping at Kroger too here in TX!

Got a question for you. Is it healthy or better yet does fasting work when on a zone meal plan? My nutritionist told me I need to consume 20 blocks a day to drop weight. So I am preparing four 5 block meals a day of balanced proteins, fats, and carbs(veggies). Needless to say its a lot of food. If I give myself only 6 hours or so to eat those meals am I packing too much food into my body in a short amount of time to digest properly? Or does the remaining 18 hours in the day somehow balance it out? Any advice is appreciated.

I am also curious about your first meal of the day that breaks your fast. Massive research shows you should not have anything high carb (oatmeal) and if you do you should not have any fats. Its one or the other mixed with a little protein to ease your digestive system into your eating window. Consuming Carbs spikes your insulin level opening up the cells and because you ate fat along with it that too enters the cell. You cant burn both so one gets broken down and deposited as fat. I have seen many fitness and nutritionist consistently argue over this and I don't know what to believe any more.

do you have to workout in order to fast and not lose muscle
@KriptoniteKai7 жыл бұрын
saw your post thought I'd jump in if that's cool. you do not have to workout while you fast though there are benefits of working out while you fast you can fast without working out. You are less likely to lose muscle while you fast without working out but no serious muscle loss occurs while you workout and fast, it all has to do with your glycogen stores. www.muscleforlife.com/the-definitive-guide-to-intermittent-fasting/ have a look at this and it may help you wrap your head around it. I certainly helped me understand fasting and working out much better than anything I found on youtube.

just so u know, i dont want to criticize anything u do cause it obviously works for u, but arent u supposed to weigh the food raw? at least as far as i thought food loses weight(probably water) after u prepare it. but still the macros stay the same for example: baking 1 kg of potatoes for ~30 mins in the oven leaves a netto weight of about ~800g. whats ur take on that?
