Hey bro! Just watched your latest YT video of training in Barcelona 💪💪💪 I'm a Chiropractic student and I had the issue back in 2020, so just wanna give you some info on your sternum pain. It could be costochondritis, which means the part of your ribs that join your sternum is inflamed. It could be something else. But I do recommend you to get checked up by the healthcare professionals. In my case it was costochondritis and there was no motion in my rib cage when I breathed in and out, it took me almost a year to fully recover. It also could be temporary soft tissue soreness or inflammation. But yeah... Getting checked up by the professional is definitely recommended. Have a great PUMP day bro! 🔥💪🏋️

Greg you are a massive inspiration to me. I turned 22 last week and I know im in the best physical mental shape I've ever been in. For my whole life I have been dedicated to the Piano and I currently perform concerts, teach and study at the Royal Northern College of music in the UK. However I knew from my teenage years that fitness and making real money was missing from my life. Your whole life style, mindset and approach to training was massive for me over the past year im currently reping 20kg for 6 reps sets on the weighted dips and 10kg for sets of 8 on weighted chin ups. I just wanted to thank you for all of your inspiration and if you were to read this that what you do absolutely has a positive impact on lives. Thanks again

@@BobRoss-wm3lc He is really not that impressive. That of course doesn't necessarily mean that he does not take gear, but I have a hard time understanding that this is the first thing that comes to your mind. The guy weighs like 170 and haven't built any muscle in like 3-4 years at least, looks the same all the time. No 3D shoulders. Doesn't exactly scream gear.

The sternum pain sounds like it could be Costochondritis. An inflammation of the cartilage that connects the ribs to the breastbone. Resting and light stretching is usually the fix for it. I use to have this problem when doing weighted dips. I backed off and swapped exercise for a while and slightly did a lesser ROM until it felt better and I’ve been fine since and have been back to normal on the dips 💪🏻

What people don't WANT TO admit about dips is that it isn't for everyone. Not everyone's anthropometry will agree with the biomechanics of a weighted dip. They're a fkn amazing movement but it just isn't for everyone. Some people will crack their sternums doing them.

I have seen people talk about sternum pain because of heavy dips🤯 I don’t want to believe it 😂 ALSO try the extension but on a decline bench instead of incline, helps you keep your elbows pointing up more naturally because of gravity and you can add a little more weight and reap the gains, I used to do them on incline and switched to decline it feels way better🔥
@jordicanedo4398
@jordicanedo4398 Жыл бұрын
6:21 you Can see your elbows wanting to drop here and pointing to the wall instead of upwards, I’ve seen ATG guy doing it this way and is just a little inferior than decline, in a decline you get a better stretch, much more stability and you can get more out of the extra weight you can handle

Hey Greg. I’ve had the same injury for like 7 months. It is most likely pec tendinitis. It flares up on and off. I had a weird pop in my chest after doing push-ups one day. I went to turn off my grill and it just popped. Not a tear. It royally sucks, but my advice is to use a baseball to dig across the muscle fiber every day, do the door stretch gently, and ice it daily. It got completely better then I got bench and dips hard again and it flared up. It royally sucks. PT is good cause they can do ultrasound and laser therapy. That helped me immensely.

@parkmyhamsta
@parkmyhamsta Жыл бұрын
Sounds like Costochondritis. I use to always get a deep uncomfortable pain with dips in my sternum and then I learned about this. Basically all the deep stretching inflames the cartilage that connect your ribs to your breastbone. Like what you did, resting and stretching is what alleviates it!
@ddono9024
@ddono9024 Жыл бұрын
What type of stretching did you do make it go away? I've had sternum pain from heavy dips for months now. I'd appreciate some advice on this pls, thanks
@parkmyhamsta
@parkmyhamsta Жыл бұрын
@@ddono9024 I would do very very VERY gentle doorway stretches and lay on the floor (stomach down) and take a small rubber ball or tennis ball and put it under my chest and slowly roll out any nagging areas. 95% of the fix however was resting and taking a break from exercises that needed a really deep stretch. I would still do some push ups but would only go go 90 degrees and then slowly go deeper once I noticed my sternum wasn’t hurting. 3-4 weeks later I felt a-okay again and just really focus on warming up before doing dips and bench so I know my chest is primed and ready. Once you’re better, I’d def look into people like Tom Morrison for some mobility drills! It helped a ton!
