The S55 is a powerplant that is quite challenging to work with in terms of exhaust notes. It's safe to say this car doesn't have the most inspiring exhaust note. However, this Dinan setup sounds pretty darn good for an S55 powered vehicle and enables a deep, aggressive growl that all M4's should have from the factory. And the best part is that it's a valved system so it can be quiet or loud with the push of a button.

You should do a video explaining why the n55 and s55 sound so different from each other. Nobody has really covered this in such a descriptive way as I think you would.

it's due to the unequal down pipe lengths, stock one side is around 14 inches longer and when the exhaust pipes meet together the difference in pulses of the exhaust cause it to have the notorious s55 sound. go watch a equal length exhaust set up on youtube and you'll see how smooth and nice the tone is. quite an easy fix it's just taken a long time to figure it out.

Man the M4 in the garage is sooo goals ! I am also working towards getting a F8X chassis in the next 2-3 years. I have a 2020 Taco as the daily and I want the M as a summer weekend car since I live in Canada I don't want a amazing car to be destroyed by snow and salt.

You can also get a CAN Flap module from burger motor sports to keep the exhaust valve open. I have it on my f30 335 and I can manually control the valve from the BC button on the end of the indicator stalk.

@@SimplyCarThings I have heard many great things about the S55 block, it takes on power very well with just a remap. The b58 on the other hand in the UK is newer but isn't as strong and won't make the same kind of power compared to the S55 with similar mods, it a shame that the S55 will cease production soon. One thing for sure is that these S55 beasts will hold their prices well. I want a M2 competition but damn the prices for a used one in the uk is crazy

How did you open and close your valves when your car was stationary? I toggle through efficient, sport and sport plus modes which make no sound difference after installing my awe switchpath exhaust.

When you put the car into sport plus, lightly tap the accelerator and you’ll hear the valve open.

I've got to agree with you the Dinan free flow exhaust is probably the best sounding aftermarket exhaust for this car; likely the route I will be taking shortly. In terms of sound I like the M3 over most cars... I’d take that exhaust note over AMG, V8 Jaguars, I just think the S55 sounds so RAW! With the DCT shifts ! Can’t be beat

The OEM 437M are already a forged (and lightweight) wheel, so that would honestly be a downgrade. Don't get me wrong, I have ARC-8's on my 335i, I love 'em, but unless it's the new forged line it's a downgrade imo. Personally I like something higher end on the F8X platform, like BBS, HRE, Work/SSR/etc. -- plenty available on forums used for a fraction of price new and you can recoup 90%+ when you go to resell them eventually if you don't curb the sh!t out of em.

@@f3irty278 You are correct! A set of forged wheels which can beat 437M at least a 9k budget. Unless you want the style, otherwise they are not worthy. BBS, OZ and Volks wheels are traditionally forged, which means each wheel forged out with the spokes, these wheels have the maximum strength, but need much longer time to make a new design. New wheel brands such as HRE and Vossen and others, includes all Chinese factory made forged wheels, they are only forged to a barrel, then cut out the spokes by using CNC machines. Those forged wheels have less strength, but extremely easy to customize sizes or make a new design.
