56 years later blood is still flowing. It's shocking listening to his terminology but the underlying message was one of fear of something that he predicted was happening, and since then it has actually been happening. Perhaps though if the people of the time had been lore open minded and less afraid, had actually tried working with the immigrants towards real integration it would have gone much more smoothly? Now we don't recognise colour as something that distinguishes us, religion is the chief dividing aspect. I have no time for that, if it was taken out of the equation there would be very little left to quarrel about..

Certainly people over 35/40 Thing is a lot of the folk on here singing Powell's praises now, were those who at the time did largely ignore and even pillory him, ie the then still young boomers. The older folk of his day, especially his contemporaries, largely regardless of social status and wider politics etc were I figure mostly in tune with his message. But it was for most folk just not a make or break voting issue. One of the most amazing things you learn if you actually listen to the speech (how many singing it's praises on here have actually listened to all of it?) is that effectively ending immigration and indeed also a funded voluntary repatriation scheme appear to have been official Tory Party policy when he made the speech. But this serves only to demonstrate that for more than 50 years the Tories have repeatedly talked tough on immigration and essentially done nothing but talk. Why? Mostly because it was never truly an issue that would win or loose a Westminster election. Add in that the whole UK voting system says you can promise the moon on a raft of things then deliver nothing on most of them and folk will still vote you back into power. The now old post war baby boomers are the important demographic who ignored Powell at the time. They are also the ones who consistently didn't vote for folk who actually might have done something about Immigration for next 4 to 5 decades. They are as well the generation who started the birth rate decline. It's a bit rich now hailing Powell, nearly 60 years after he made, what at the time wasn't really a speech that was very much out of step with the majority of the British public. The time to act if there was a time was then. The problem was the issue was not high profile enough for enough folk for any mainstream Parties to actually do more than talk tuff. And the Electoral system prevented the more committed from gaining any traction, even at local levels.

Enoch wasnt completely anti-immigration. He was against immigration in vast numbers from cultures who had no interest in integration. His language may appear harsh nowadays but it was relatively normal back then. When migrants began to expect special treatment it was recognised by Enoch as the start of a steep slope downward into what we have today. Agitators and campaigners who march on to their own demise. He'd have broke through to the mainstream if he hadn't have been so overtly honestly.

Enoch was labeled a racist yet he was against Nazism/fascism and helped some German-Jews become British citizens. He wasnt "anti-immigration." He was against unchecked mass immigration and only wanted small-scale immigration that was selevtive and he felt ethnic Brits should make up a large majority of the population in their own country. That a lot of things have been changing for the worse, way outweighing any changes for the better etc.. Issues arising that are over associated with and over represented by certain minorities.. It's uncomfortable to bring up sure, deemed 'wrong think' etc.. But doesn't stop it being true.. And not to say 'traditional native white man' ain't never done no bad etc!.. There are tons of scumbags white guys.. Dealing drugs, committing sex crimes, attacking ppl with knives.. For 3 examples.. But the stats shows, even though they are minorities.. Per Capita.. Many people ppl understand this statistic.. Even though they are minorities.. 1:1 ratio, per capita etc etc.. Black people are more likely to kill, stab each other.. Asians, trends show mainly from Pakistan, are like x17 times more likely to commit sex crimes.. And don't get me started on Albanians and ratio of them who have recently moved here being involved in the drug trade!.. Sure, these different ppls, they are only 3%, or 7% of the population or whatever amount one may be.. Tiny numbers.. Woke ppl are constantly talking about different groups needing more 'representation' etc etc.. Well in these instances.. They are often massively over representated in these issues.. It's the truth unfortunately.. Stats don't lie.. And please don't assume I'm hateful, or some nasty kind of person saying all that.. I genuinely love ppl.. All people.. Find other cultures fascinating, I'm attracted to foreign women from around the world, one of my best friends is a Muslim.. I wish the problems i mentioned, and many others we have didn't exist.. I don't want 'the drawbridge raising' or UK to be isolationist or anything like that.. I just wish we handled things differently, is my main point and feeling i have on all these things, and maybe things wouldn't of got so bad in many instances.. I pray for everyone's sake in this country, we get a better grip on things moving forwards one day in the future.. Sooner rather than later ideally!!.. Anyways.. Take care..
