I was waiting for before/after stills at the end because you never showed any room in it's entirety. If, for whatever reason, you don't want to show the whole room you could explain that to the audience, I'm sure. We would understand. But when you talk about the beautiful wood of the floor and then don't show it, it's quite frustrating.

No disrespect to the cameraperson, but the clips were too close-up and shaky. Barely saw the rooms with it being so far zoomed-in. The video was actually frustrating to watch. Don't you see what we're all seeing?

Pro tip from someone who sanded cathedral ceiling timbers for an entire summer and only got through my bedroom in my mountain home. Sand the beams and at least white or dark wax them before you install them. Spiders and cobwebs cannot be removed from unfinished actual rough-hewn wood. Brush bristles, microfiber other cloth bits get stuck and a vacuum doesn't work especially with the debris from a wood stove over time. If you are interested, I can send you pics of how I made the cottage/cabin look functional.

There is a trend in America to sterilize the whole house. Home after home decorated with mass produced 'country' decor. No imagination goes into that. Your house is beautiful and reflects all the things you love and have gathered over time, so pretty. We have the same taste, I love crusty old things too :) I love your fireplace and windows. A pretty fireplace is a sanity saver in winter, its hard to be sad and grouchy with a wood fire roaring away its my favorite thing about winter. Thanks for sharing your home!

Thank you for showing what a farmhouse really looked/looks like. It reminds me very much of my grandparents old farmhouse. Seven generations of my family have lived in that house and no one ever painted the whole thing white inside and out. This new "farmhouse" decor style blows my mind. A bit of a teaser with just the close-ups and brief glimpses, but it is your private home after all. Still, I think we get the idea❤️. You may have to, seeing some of the comments, do a post about the coldroom/fridge just on its own!! Just curious, no judgement, the rifle/bb gun/ maybe a toy? leaning by the downstairs fireplace isnt locked up?

When you live on a farm/country a gun is often needed, I dont have an issue with that, just that is wasnt locked up. It may be decor.

On your fireplace mantel, is the figurine a Royal Dalton? My mother use to have one that looked like her but she was holding balloons with the basket. Anyway, she had both the Balloon Man and the Woman. Your figurine polishes the home beautifully.

Wow! Your home is filled with so much home goodness and the feeling of welcomeness. Love everything you two did and appreciate the sweat equity you have in restoring it back to it's original time. As I toured your home with you Schaye I felt like I was in a beautiful french cottage with much warmth. That feeling one has when they know they are welcome. Truly welcomed. I can imagine that when you entertain friends & family they leave with full tummies and full minds from the good conversations they've had from your home. You refer to your furnishings as crusty, which I never had heard before. What a treat it's been to tour your farmhouse/cottage. I too agree that our dining rooms, don't get the use out of them like they should. Thank you so much for this tour.

I think I got the feel of the place, which is quite a throw back from where you started and very charming. It was tricky to determine the overall room, more just snippets. I would have loved more long shots and side by side before and after's, like the still you did with the bathroom. Quite a transformation.

What wonderful finds under drywall, linoleum and carpet. Not only did those save money, but time as well. I love the coziness of the cottage. It's amazing how many collections of things, books, dinnerware, baskets, guitars, rolling pins, and so much more, yet it doesn't look like a hoard. You have done some amazing renovations and decorating.

Do not understand so many people demanding more b-roll. A home is very personal, to get a look through is a privilege. Just because you have a KZbin channel doesn't mean you need to go through the recycling bin piece by piece haha. I love the whole feel of your home, it is warm and cosy rebellion to the minimalist, decluttering cult.

Thank you for sharing your home with all of us! It's absolutely beautiful. There is a French word that perfectly describes your home : de'gage'. Degage' means unconstrained in manner. De'gage' means ( my definition ) perfectly imperfect. When the wear and tear of life shows on a home or an object. Patina'd. My home and gardens are de'gage' because I love the perfectly imperfect. I would never want to have rigid lines or color schemes in my home and gardens. They are not for everyone and that is OK. I"M not for everyone's taste either. I love the little surprises in my gardens. A volunteer plant or an animal that I didn't know was there. A few days ago I found a box tortoise in my garden. I found a nest of eggs that one of my hens hid behind an old bucket in my garden. Have you ever studied a still life painting by an old master? The best will show a brown leaf on a flower or a faded rose or a bowl with a chip or crack in it. There is beauty in the lined face of a toothless man or woman who has worked hard in the sun. A dented pail has a story. Was it kicked by a cow? Did a child break a fence rail in the back garden? Did the boy from down the road break the limb in that old apple tree some years ago when he climbed the tree to swipe an apple? Your home is perfectly imperfect and perfectly charming!

We eat in the lounge room but our dining room has been repurposed. It's now my sewing room and I love it. I should add that hubby has a lower spinal disability and cannot sit on a dining chair but we do sit together as a family for dinner every day. Young visitors love it as they eat kneeling at our huge coffee table. Sadly our landlord put white carpet everywhere but I do have a huge rug on the loungeroom floor.

I’ve read most of the comments here and feel some are really mean,If mrs Elliot wants to dress up especially for a video it’s her business,One person implied that her couch needed cleaning another that the house was too staged .What do you want.?Personally l found the house charming, granted I wanted to see more,Another commented that she wouldn’t show her house ,as if it was wrong to do so,well why are you looking at this blog..?Somehave compared this to Angela at Parisian Farmgirl l can compare the 2 Angela gets dressed up her house is casual a lovely cosy home as the Elliot’s home is ,, l don’t understand why such negativity at this,Another had to write war and peace at how this homestead wasn’t a reality, you don’t know what Mrs Elliot does behind scenes, As I commented your life isn’t hers ,and if she and hubby like a glass of wine after a long day it’s their business,I’m sure that BB gun was a decor item I’m sure they didn’t need to be told about a gun in view ,Talk about women lifting each other up ,lm so disappointed ,l hope you naysayers have some guilt.Im sorry mrs Elliot but l felt l had to say something ,hope you don’t mind,xx

would love it if you would do a clean with me type video. I love watching them but the only videos out there seem to lack big aspects of natural living. I would love to watch clean with me videos that encompass the aspects of life that really matter to me like gardening, time teaching kids, cooking from scratch, etc. It would be nice to see what is considered "realistic". Maybe challenge some other homesteaders that share similar values so there are several to watch!!! :D

Love your home. The kitchen is so beautiful. I think it has so much charm. Crazy about all your antiques and vintage accessories. You just can’t get the warm cozy style with the new and modern things . I would rather have a home that is different from what most people have today. I always shop antique stores for my things. So glad I found your videos. Have a wonderful day.

This was a beautiful. Thanks for giving us a glimpse into your home. I’ve always been curious! Where have you gotten all your beautiful stone pots you have in your kitchen and cool antiques around your home? Have you hit up hundreds of yard sale for those or found them on eBay? Are they passed down from family? I’m always looking for stuff like that but it’s so difficult to find I feel.
