I thought the commentary was bang on. Degale gets lazy. I don't know if its lack of conditioning but walking around with his hands down is just asking to get hit. It's weird, because Andre Dirrell totally outclassed Carl Froch in their fight (although Froch got the "win"). But here, Dirrell got soundly beaten by James DeGale, who lost to George Groves, who in turn was beaten twice by Carl Froch. Styles make fights, I guess..

Pretty sure Lennox Lewis was the undisputed heavyweight champ for quite a while after Barrera v Hamed so he was a joke then? At least Dirrell turned up to fight against DeGale. Against Froch he ran without throwing punches, continuously held on in the clinch, threw himself to the floor at every opportunity, and ducked so low at times that Froch only had the top of his head to punch. Going into the Super6 Dirrell was considered THE man for the USA. Oh and there was some guy with an Olympic gold medal. First round of fights happen and Froch gets a lucky decision against Dirrell where as this guy, Andre Ward, beats Kessler in a decisive fashion. Sure there was a few headbutts in there but Kessler was widely considered #1 and favourite to win the tournament. Fast forward several years later and Ward retires as one of the greatest 168 lbers ever, Dirrell will not even be a foot note.

fact is he went in over confident and emotional and them are the 2 things u dont want to do against a tough fighter that packs a punch. degale gets away with wreckless movement wild swinging, even when he did land combinations they are not too skillful, but he has this awkward herky jerky movement, dirrell is the more skilled fighter, but u got to fight smart not with emotion, like he did in this fight right from the first rd. in a rematch he beats degale guaranteed. degale had him hurt and didnt finish him and dirrell came back and did good in the latter rds, and he was still on wobbley legs thruout the fight. i want to see a rematch or degale vs anthony. i like degale, that style frustrates guys, almost amatuerish style. but he has it working, so credit to him. big win over bute also.

Yeah, although i'd say Liam Smith has only lost to two very good fighters. Callum did great against Groves, but there's always going to be that question about if Groves was anywhere near his best after the shoulder injury. I think the next couple of fights will give us a true indication of where Callum is at for sure. Can't knock what he's done, but it just can't be ignored that Groves was never going to be the same after that bad injury.

Good point. I rooted for Groves, but think his tactic wasn't the best. Smith wasn't impressive in the last 2-3 fights, so he thought he could bang with him and was punished. Too bad Groves retired, he has a few big fights in him left. In my opinion he was #1 in super middle, so it only makes sense that Smith took his spot. What I'd like to see is Zurdo sticking around a little more, so they can fight. 175 is already more interesting even without him.

This may sound crazy but looking back at this fight, this is almost exactly how the Ward-Kovalev fight played out. Early knockdown in the second (2 knockdowns in this fight), and an almost movie-type of rally to bring the fight back. And here this fight could have played out the same way. Dirrell could have gotten the know depending on how the 11th and 12th round was scored or even a draw. In the kovalev-ward fight it could have gone either way or even a draw as well. Two extremely close fights.

Degale spent the whole night posturing. When Ward won (lost) against Kovalev people said it was a good fight. Come on. Andre Dirrell looks completely different than he did in the fight against Badou Jack. I don't even recognize him here. He looks like a much better fighter. He looked amateurish in the Jack fight.

I had this fight 113-113, could have went one round either way. Epic second round by DeGale and underrated comeback by Direll. Really depends on how the championship rounds are scored.

DAYUM dirrell REALLY fell off...him kovi and adonis were at one time the only major threats to beating ward. Hell he could've KNOCKED froch out if he wasn't so scary and trained for a stronger chin.

Degale was an extremely skilled boxer. Sorry.. but Eubank jr would have had no chance against him at this point in his career.

I think he would Even In his prime degale wasn't that good. He lost to groves and in certain fights he got hit too often and his cardio wasn't the best

degale will get k.o bad one of these days but his boxing IQ is under rated. I like him. but this fight was really close,dirrel won ever round after 7 clearly. But i understand why they gave the fight to degale in championship fights, those are able to knockdown the opponent and win a couple rounds should win the fight.

Two judges scored 114-112 for Degale. I think they gave the last round to Degale, and if they did the fight should have been a majority draw. I say that because Degale did not win the last round. Had they given the last round to Dirrell, two judges would have scored 113-113. The Brits might not like that, but I'm only referring to the last round. Two judges had it 113-112 for Degale after 11 rounds, so If they gave Dirrell the last round, you can't argue that it shouldn't have been a 113-113- majority draw. The dumb commentators sounded like they surrendered the last round to Degale, but I watched it twice and Degale landed a body punch with 1:23 left, his first punch landed in the last round. He went 1:37 without landing anything, and only landed 4 punches total in the round. Dirrell landed more then 10 punches, easily winning the round. Degale threw a 'loud' flurry with 1:24 left, landing only a body punch out of the 5 punches he threw. Aside from that, he did nothing in that round.

Dirrells last chance to achieve anything. After this he went downhill badly. He's getting sucker punched by nobody's and not in any title contentions. Dirrell will be a underachiever when his career is over.
