We are very proud of this custom built Kubota BX23s. The model is designed to be fully functional for someone who does not have control of their legs. Thank you to Steve Bouwman, our shop technician, for making this happen.

I just saw this video. I really hope that Kubota has given an award to Steve for his ingenuity and compassion for the lady. Great work.

I am above knee amputee on my right leg. I had a custom cable lever mounted on the left side of tractor and cable runs underneath tractor to other side and connected to foot pedal bolt holes. I had the pedal removed but can bolt it back on if an able-bodied person was to use the tractor. I had a checker plated cover to protect the lever and cable as my right foot could impede the traveling of forward and reverse. I will say with Kubota having only one pedal to hook up a hand control is much easier instead of a separate pedal for forward and reverse each like a lot of tractors on the market. I have a Kubota MX5800. Good job Steave! My dealer didn't look into anything for me however they did haul the tractor to a shop that l found to do the work in Edmonton.

I bought a new tractor a month ago and would love to see how you configured the linkage as I am a paraplegic too. I think it is like a cam under the floor pan that you probably welded a rod to then ran across under the tractor. I've been overworking my arms and shoulders for almost 37 years so for me, I will use an electric hoist. I can't make the big transfers anymore. I don't suppose you have any pictures during this process?

Im building a system now for a customer and i went above the floor board handle to the left of seat attached to the seat base. The rod going to the forward pedal is at ankle height and keeps feet away. How did you make out? Ill make a video on it soon

This is awesome. My husband just purchase a Kubota with the same plans of adapting it for him, a quadriplegic, to run. So glad to see some of these modifications. Would love to know how you moved the forward and reverse pedals from the right side to the left side!?

As a para I salute you. But those edges on the pad to get to the backhoe need to not be so sharp. I know they don’t look it but her but is going to be loosing muscle quick (I am assuming she is a new para) so it could lead to skin issues and skin issues on your butt when your always sitting is a not so good thing. That is the only criticism but great work guys. Just awesome.

thats nice to do that for ones with disabilty and cant walk my dealer does that too for them wich is nice deere and newholland dealers here wouldnt do that for them wich is awwful

I’m a para and looking at buying a tractor and having it adapted. John Deere was a waste of time. The dealer’s answer to hand controls was “contact JD directly and have them design a package”, in other words, “we don’t want to be bothered with taking the trouble to do it and we’re afraid that you’ll sue us later”.

Kubota should offer disability packages for thier tractors. Excavators are already disabikity friendly except maybe getting in and out but tractors are NOT disabikity friendly.
