20 years ago I watched the final live at night! I live in Latvia and have no any connection to Australia, but I was very happy for Steven that night! Me and my mom still recall that miracle win with excitement! What a humble guy you are, Steve!

One time after obsessing over a company I wanted a job at for a year and a half, I wrote a comment on a blog and the CEO of the company replied to ask me if I wanted to do a collaboration. I’m just now realizing I did a Bradbury.

Steven absolutely deserves the medal! He played it on the day to his strategy and it worked. Just because there is a lucky pass that gives a team a run away try does it mean they shouldn't accept a victory. No way! Steven sat at the back and played to his strategy. You have to be in it to win it - and that's what this shows - you take your chances and do what you can and sometimes the cards fall in your favour. Steven needs to hold his head high knowing he fair and square won the race. He is a hero!

I respect to the fairness of the competition ❤ the gold was meant to be his
@JoeyBlogs007 Жыл бұрын
True and that's all part of the competition. i.e. staying within the rules and avoiding disasters. The more you push the limits, break rules and take risks, the higher the probability of a catastrophic outcome or success, compared to staying out of trouble. It can go either way. Bradbury was lucky and his strategy defied the odds of success, when cruising in the back row, which would normally not result in victory. However as mentioned, that doesn't discount the years of hard work and sacrifice to get to an international final of an elite sport and being positioned to take advantage of unexpected situations which can arise, particularly in ice skating.

His leg was severely cut by another skater's blade from his previous competition. That accident taught him better on how to win the race. When he finally recovered, he joined another tournament. This time, he let himself fall far behind while the others skated as fast as they could. When his opponents slipped one by one, that's where he maxed out his speed and finished the race. In speed skating, your finishing momentum should be stronger and faster than your starting one because you'll slip and lose your balance when you start off too strong.
