FRED GREENE!!!! My favorite plant manager at Gibson!! He started at Gibson in the early 90s around the same time I did, except...He didnt have any experience fresh outta college so they put him scrubbing toilets and sweeping floors. By the time I left 11 yrs later, he was wearing a suit and was plant mgr!! But he got the offer from Martin and I got an offer from Fender Cust. Shop about the same exact time and we both left around 2001. Hes a hell of a nice guy...im happy for him. Glad hes still hanging in there 23 yrs later!!

I think the GPCE is interesting, but I thought the plugged-in sound was a bit of a letdown. Sure there's limits to what you're going to get while going direct and using just an under-saddle pickup, but I've heard better UST sounds than this one. As if the pickup was compressed too much.

beautiful guitars and unreal prices
@BulldoggerJK8 ай бұрын
I wish someone would ask what makes that inception worth $4k. Everything about it is cheaper than the models they’re known for and they’re charging way more. Plugging a Martin in for a demo doesn’t really say a lot for the guitar itself.
@charlesbolton84718 ай бұрын
It is priced to compete with the Taylor 614ce.
@BulldoggerJK8 ай бұрын
@@charlesbolton8471 I don’t know about that. Not much competition when you’re $500.00 over the Taylor. I’d argue the Taylor is built better overall for $500 less as well.
@charlesbolton84718 ай бұрын
@@BulldoggerJK Taylor has had a price increase the 614ce is $3,699 now. I would agree that the Taylor is probably better built.
@BulldoggerJK8 ай бұрын
@@charlesbolton8471 I still think Martin needs to explain the price in comparison to their own models. You can get a rosewood dreadnought with a 2 piece back, ebony fingerboard and bridge and a better finish for nearly $1,000.00 less. It doesn’t make sense.

These are not guitars, they are fashion statements. I saw another post from the Martin booth at this exposee declaring how committed Martin are to sustainability and reducing their carbon footprint. The only people who can afford these guitars would have a carbon footprint the size of a small country. This is like the Davos clique flying around in private jets then lecturing the rest of us on reducing our use of mother earths resources. Maybe I am just pissed off as I can not afford one myself, but I would not want one of those John Mayer models, they are just gaudy and in poor taste.
