Love your work. Just a suggestion, why don't you work on a series of videos where you go from initiation to close-out with every step from setting up the calendar, to adding activities, to resource loading to cost loading to making reports. I think this will be a hit.

Why is it when I Update my schedule my total budgeted cost will disappear

That's likely because you have "calculate costs from units" checked on your resource assignments and you entered your amounts into the budgeted cost column. You either have to enter the amounts into the budgeted units column, or uncheck the calculate costs from units setting.
