It's amazing the sorts of things you can learn on KZbin, too. Like, I was able to replace my own automatic window motor in my car pretty easily after watching someone else do it. A lot of things aren't as complicated as we think they are going to be. :)

@@OnboardLifestyle Don't what percentage of time you have shore power available (to make it economically practical for that limited time), but A/C that runs off that would be nice during that time... and if it were the right A/C, could be used WHEN you decide to add enough solar/battery power to run it.

One thing I have been thinking about might be an odd question and a bit stupid, , but why not have powerbusses at certain points with thick wires to the power, so you no longer had to run power more than a meter or two from where the systems were to the powerbus. It might be all wrong for or bad, but if not, why not?
@jerrysmith35152 жыл бұрын
Teal, As usual it looks like you done a top notch job. I do have a question, why didn't you have the air conditioning operating while you were doing the upgrades? From what I remember of some past episodes you have enough power to operate everything off grid. I have often thought your boat with all the improvements would be my choice. Have you ever considered changing over to electric propulsion as well? I have noticed more and more captains upgrading to all electric. Is that something you would do? All the best to you and your family. Btw do you have a drawing of how your boat is laid out? I would sure like to see one. Thank you very much.

Nothing against it but I am beginning to think Victron stands for "overly complicated". Use 10 boxes where one or two will do. It is a great business model (for the manufacture) because each box can be cheaper (to compete), but the overall system can make more money all up. Same with the use of nonstandard cables all over when cat 5 (or 6) would do the job just fine. I guess the navigation suppliers have gotten Yacht owners used to this kind of thing. It may have some small utility in allowing things to fit in smaller spaces or be arranged more conveniently. I would have to personally experience that to be convinced. I would also be somewhat leery of the robustness of all the extra connections needed. Still, they do have a good reputation. Having said that, good job. I agree with the utility of your new screen. My two box system (single box with inverter) came with such a screen that includes all that info if less fancy, that I would not want to be without. Your installations are (as always) really well done. Well thought out and executed.

That is not a BMS. The Cerbo GX is a monitoring system. A BMS is a Battery Management System necessary for monitoring individual cell voltages and controlling load and charge disconnects of a lithium battery system and is required by ABYC standard E-13. FYI to you and the viewers, lithium batteries with built-in BMS rarely meet the safety requirements of ABYC E-13. Even the brands with great advertising (Battleborn, Dakota, etc.) are not designed to meet this standard.
