Part of why I get frustrated that TCU wasn’t ranked ahead of Bama this season is because of how egregiously they were screwed in 2010. 2010 TCU - back to back undefeated, 4 Top 25 wins, #4 ranked total offense, #1 ranked total defense, #2 ranked margin of victory And that miraculously wasn’t good enough for a national title game bid….

@@markjackson6431 I agree partially. 2014 snub was also horrendous, but 2010 TCU is statistically the best team that program has ever had and that teams resume is insane even compared with teams that make the playoffs today. 12-0 - beat #8 47-7 on the road, beat #14 45-10, beat #21 38-7 on the road, beat #24 30-21 neutral site - scored 40+ in 80% of games - scored 60+ in 2 games - allowed less than 10ppg - shutout 4 teams - averaged a 31.4 margin of victory per game Add onto the fact that during the season the B10 and SEC Commissioners wrote open letters to the AP and Harris polls demanding that under no circumstance should TCU (or Boise State who was literally 32-0 at the time) be allowed to make a national championship game. When this happened I lost all respect I had for this sport

Our defense has had the same issues for two years now. The offense that was so explosive last year has disappeared. Bryce has been a magician pulling a rabbit out of his hat but that alone won't win games. We just outscored opponents because our defense could not stop anyone. Our offense can't do that this year. They can't even block on most plays. The bottom line is that we just do not have that killer instinct any more. We just survive games when we're lucky. Something is bad wrong when our offense consist of two players and the defense looks confused on many plays. Like any other business, it all starts at the top to fix it.

I agree with most of what you said. The Alabama defensive backfield was terrible in the national championship game last year. The receiving corps was subpar without Jameson Williams and Metchie in the championship game. Last year's offensive line was mediocre. Alabama has the same problems this season.

Last year they were similar but had some great WR's that bailed them out a LOT and of course BY. Right now the OL is middle of the road at SEC level at best & IMO the receivers are below average for the SEC. Regardless to the stars by their names. Defense has Gelding. Nuff said on that one.

It's hard to stay at the top, especially in college football. Also, Death Valley is one of the toughest venues to play for a road team. Georgia, Ohio State and Alabama have BY FAR the most talented rosters in college football yet all 3 have had games where they appeared to struggle. It happens because football is hard and going undefeated while blasting everyone you play almost NEVER happens. 2019 LSU may be the exception to this rule but I think they had some struggles throughout the regular season too. Alabama would have won both of the games they lost if they had a true #1 WR. A guy like Marvin Harrison Jr or J Williams.

2010 was a bad year with 3 losses. 2013 was the infamous Kick Six vs Auburn when Bama was ranked #1 and got eliminated from the SEC Championship and BCS. In 2014, Bama lost the first CFP semifinal as the #1 seed to Ohio State, who won it all. Bama beat Clemson in two playoffs (one final, one semi) but also lost two finals, with the most recent one being a lopsided score. Throw in a few Ole Miss and Texas A&M losses during the regular season. Alabama needed help from a wild 4th and 25 play (Arkansas beating Ole Miss) for Alabama to make the SEC and win it all in 2015. (Because Ole Miss beat Bama in 2015). Also, that year, Bama won it all with an unknown quarterback. Key play was an onside kick when the score was tied. Alabama beat Georgia in the 2nd and 26 final. Georgia was up 13-0 at the half and could have easily won. Bama beat Georgia in the SEC last year, but then lost the National Championship. 2019 was an awful year when Tua got injured. Bama had two losses, to LSU and Auburn. I’m sure Finebaum had a lot of praise and love for 2019 LSU and downplayed Bama’s dynasty. Then Bama was just as explosive, if not more with the all SEC 2020 schedule, and beat Ohio State handily in the National Championship. There were many times when Finebaum could have said the Alabama “dynasty is closing."

Even if Bama was good if we had a real playoff in 2010 I’m not seeing Bama winning. That season you had two teams that were 35-1 and 34-2* who were #2 and #4 in total offense respectively, #2 and #1 in total defense respectively, and #1 and #2 by margin of victory respectively. Both teams received #1 rankings from multiple polls despite not even playing in the national championship. Both teams finished the year with 4 Top 25 wins and maintained a 28+ margin of victory against ranked opponents. Both teams had 30+ point Top 10 wins. 30 combined players from both of these teams got drafted into the NFL And yet neither miraculously even made the national championship game. Unless cam played like literal Jesus Christ there is no way Auburn doesn’t get bodied by 30 to either of those teams…. And the same would honestly happen with Bamas team *Both of these teams went undefeated in 2009 but neither played in the championship, both teams finished in the Top 10 in 2008 but neither made the championship.

I really wish you would give me some of that crack you are smoking. All you have to do is look at the recruiting the last five years and you will understand what you obviously don't. LSU has nowhere near the talent that Alabama has this year, last year, 2 years ago 3 years ago 4 years ago. Do you know anything at all about recruiting rankings? Only one coach has been anywhere near Saban as far as recruiting the last seven or eight years, and it isn't the current or former LSU coaches.

To be honest Alabama could have easily been 5-4 this season. Because They barley beat TEXAS and TEXAS A&M. If you watched the TEXAS game they were lucky to escape with a WIN. The defense barely got them out of the TEXAS A&M game. TENNESSEE basically didn’t care about time of possession because they were moving the ball all over that defense. LSU was doing the same thing and LSU’S defense held them to field goals for the 1st half. Alabama’s defense can’t stop anyone nowadays because those offenses were able to drive the ball all over them. To me Alabama needs to build that defense up because back in the days that’s what provided his teams with championships. It’s cool that Nick has a spectacular offensive team now but it doesn’t help that your defense can’t stop anyone nowadays. So hopefully he is able to fix his defense to help them continue the dynasty. Because for myself this is the 1st time I’ve ever seen them get out coached and looked soft as a team.

Been saying all of that all year. It still takes generational talent or a "down year" for AL to lose. Coaching has been TERRIBLE for the past couple years. Undisciplined and privileged energy from the players all year. BoB and PG are terrible and I don't understand why Saban still has them on the team!

At Saban's age, performance starts declining. Nobody, even a GOAT, can stay on top forever. The penalties and lack of dicipline are definately out of character for a Saban team, as is getting pushed around on the line of scrimmage. Maybe he isn't declining yet, and they give us a repeat of 2020 next year. I've heard the "dynasty is over" talk many times before, just to see them come back and win it all again.

Good grief. Settle down. As a buckeye fan I have nothing but respect for coach saban and his program. It is not easy to win every week. In 2015 ohio state had pretty much everyone back from the 2014 national championship and missed the playoff. The rest of the SEC rides alabama and alabama brought the sec for what it is. Nothing but respect and they will be fine. Chill. Coach saban has developed some amazing players and coaches. Ohio state loss 2 games last year. We had some locker room issues and coaching problem. It happens. Again it is not easy to win and what alabama has done is incredible.

It was a great game. Glad LSU came out on top. It's not like LSU or Tennessee completely owned you. Both games might go the other way if you were allowed to play them again. Hoping LSU gets a bump in recruiting from this that helps us in future seasons because I don't think we'll beat GA even if LSU makes it to the SEC Championship game this year. Maybe in '23 or '24. Well to be honest when LSU came out ranked 10th in the 1st college football playoffs rankings everyone including me thought that was a bit much. However if and when we make it to the SEC Championship game in Atlanta Georgia, we will be playing with house money because LSU was picked 7th in the SEC West and most thought we were a 6 or 7 game winner at best...

Its not that Tenn and LSU are teams they should not be losing to; it's Alabama's performance in those games, including Tex and Tex a&m. Bama is just not playing to the standards they are known for. As a UGA fan, this is shocking. Because I really think that their team is the most talented. I mean I really thought going into the season that by this time it was going to be Alabama and . . .everyone else; nobody was going to hold a candle to them. And now they have two losses? So I hear what Paul is saying, and I think Saban has possibly lost a touch, but you would think that Saban would have a Jimbo win /loss record by the way they’re talking. Bama barely lost 2 games. Sure they might need to reevaluate some staff at the end of the season, but just bc a team doesn’t make it to the playoffs 1 season doesn’t mean the sky has fallen. One thing overlooked when discussing the 2-pt attempts is the fact that, when we scored the first of those two TDs, we had not scored a TD in FIVE previous quarters. So it isn’t like another TD was in any way assured. Yes, I’m hindsight, either extra point would’ve been great as time ran out; but at the time, 16-14 was no better than 15-14. Coordinators: maybe Golding is alright, but our defense is being hamstrung and exhausted by an inconsistent offense that fails to possess the ball and mount drives at critical phases. I think O’Brien is short-changing the talent we have. Questionable play-calling and nowhere near the imagination and creativity of Lane or Sark, for example.
