In his first State of the Union address, Joe Biden said that in standing with Ukraine there was an "unwavering resolve that freedom will always triumph over tyranny."
Biden said Russian President Vladimir Putin's attack on Ukraine was "premeditated and unprovoked."
He also warned Russia's oligarchs and announced that US airspace would be closed to all Russian aircraft.

The XL Pipeline Biden stopped wouldn't even be operational now and the tar sands it would have conveyed are the most expensive fossil fuel to process into gasoline. Gas wouldn't be a penny cheaper now. Pipelines carrying tar sands corrode three times faster per mile than those carrying regular oil, and devastating leaks are common. The Kalamazoo River spill in 2010, for example, cost over a billion dollars to clean up. The XL Pipeline was going to traverse hundreds of farms and ranches and countless streams, rivers and aquifers, putting them all in danger of leaks and spills, which have already happened over a dozen times in the existing Keystone Pipeline. Tar sands are the most expensive fossil fuel to turn into gasoline, which wouldn't be a penny cheaper now, even if everything were up and running. In order to make a profit from tar sands, the price of oil must already be high.
