He thought he had the right to be like that. The dad didn’t correct it so everyone just overlooked him. It changed when his mother’s eyes were opened to what he was doing.

Y’all are stating the obvious and not addressing the comment. YES, for now Jake is behaving because he has no recourse, but it WAS the step mom who was the catalyst in removing that recourse and starting the process toward change. Whether it proves successful or not, without her it would not have happened in the first place.

HELLO, I just feel sad for all the kids who have to deal with parents who choose penis or coochie over their own child well being and it doesn't always work out like in this situation.. Sometimes the mistreatment is too much and the betrayal is too deep to ever come back from. Count ya blessings this time OP dad doesn't always end up with positive change.
