Great video. Question about the homebase storage, how much memory is enough? Can you a tutorial on how to expand it?
@GrantButlerКүн бұрын
@laurelosei-assibey744 "How much" is a very hard one to define. The HomeBase3 comes with 16gb of internal memory. Depending on how many cameras you have, if they record 24/7, or if they are motion activated, how active the area is where they record, and how long YOU want to save files before they're overwritten. Here is a tutorial on how to upgrade the memory: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g6PHkpV7d7yaock (That video is much more memory than most people might need)

If you can connect constant power, as you suggest, do you set the camera to 'solar panel'??
@GrantButler21 күн бұрын
no. there should be another option.

@@GrantButler I have an S300 and I wired it to the mains. Nothing seemed to be happening, so I switched to the 'Solar power' setting and it started charging? I don't suppose the camera would know where the power was coming from Grant???

The camera I would love to use is the S340, but as far as I know it does not support Apple HomeKit and does not support MATTER either. The S3 is very nice but I really like the idea of a camera that follows a potential intruder instead of a fix position. Have you heard anything about Matter support or HomeKit for the S340 anytime soon?

Open questions. I have some questions: Given that it uses WIFI and there is a good WIFI signal where the camera would be mounted: 1) Can I mount the base station hardwired with Ethernet cable and place it where there is no WIFI signal and it would work? 2) How many cameras will 1 single base station support? 3) Can you use multiple base stations? 4) I have 3 buildings (4 sides each) connected via Cat 6E with a router in each building so that would be 12 cameras but a single Base station, Would that work?

@reinaldoperez1725 each HomeBase3 can support up to 16 eufy cameras. Depending on how physically separate the bldgs are I might recommended a separate HomeBase for each bldg to support cameras inside too; if you decide to upgrade one day. However, you can maintain all of them all in one app account. You can have them show in the app as all one location, or separate each bldg if you'd like. Lastly, yes it should work to extend the wifi range for the cameras.

@@GrantButler But the key question: After the setup, can the base be very far from the cameras if the base and the wan Modem are wired to each other or the same switch? I get the impression that the camera connects to a wifi created by the base and as such the camera and base can not be too far from each other after the initial setup.

i like your coverage of the app... do you know if the SoloCam S340 would have the same app options..?
@GrantButler2 ай бұрын
@squidskunk it will have some features but not all of the same ones. Mainly, that one is a 3K camera, not a 4k camera, and it does not boast the same color night vision that is new on this one. Also, that one does not have the radar motion detection like this one does. However that camera that you mentioned can move around to track people.

How long is the cable with the solar panel? Seems a little short. Thanks. And can I replace it with a longer one?
@GrantButlerАй бұрын
@@TazBo-wd2ig its 15ft. You might be able to add an extension, but the cable itself is permanently attached to the solar panel

what is the effective distance from camera to base..? how far away can the cameras be placed..? including interior house walls..?
@GrantButler2 ай бұрын
@squidskunk it depends. It depends on what your walls are made of, how thick they are, what's in the walls. Not to mention, furniture & other electronics in your home. They don't usually give distances because it can very so much depending on your home's layout.

thanks mate. great review. Im off to get one. one question tho, do I really need router/wifi? I dont have a router and I use my mobile hotspot for internet. any thoughts?
@GrantButlerАй бұрын
@MelEstrada-mm4qd as long as the mobile hot spot is always there, you can use just the Hotspot, but it might have issues if it doesn't have a connection. most of all it won't have a way to send you notifications.

Problem With these cameras they are so slow to pick up detection compared to Ring. I have the same cameras and honestly they are so SLOW. The battery drain is unreal and the solar panels are weak especially in the winter. How are you supposed to plug them in 24/7 without drilling a huge hole for a USBc cable into your house and you also have to use an official cable that they supply.
@GrantButler13 күн бұрын
@@TazBo-wd2ig while I haven't worked with the ring I do totally understand some of your concerns with the battery life and whatnot. I think I would trade these issues for having to pay a monthly fee
