I was just told today to do full weight baring in my cam boot after having ORIF surgery for a tri-fracture with dislocation. I've been non weight baring for 9 weeks. I'm 60 yrs old so not a spring chicken. Is it advisable to start out maybe at 50% and quickly move up to 100%? Full weight after 9 weeks of non seems crazy to me. I tried to stand full weight and it hurt. Not sharp pain but uncomfortable to say the least and the pins and nail filling was unexpected and super painful

The same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago! I am 61. I had 4 breaks in my tib/fib/ankle and was was down 12 weeks. No instructions, just start walking! It's been 2 weeks and I still knee scooter long walks and use crutches short distances. Had to learn how to walk with the boot and crutches off youtube. The first few days were rough like you said. Super painful! I haven't started PT yet, have to wait until I transition to out of boot. Sheesh, can't even walk in boot yet! Best to you!

Hi sorry to hear about your break.. hope you’re feeling better.. I also now 12 weeks and still not fully weight bearing yet.. doctors told me to just watch YT videos and learn from there.. it’s very hard as you don’t know what to do for the best.. I still have a bit of pain and a bit of swelling.. so not sure how much weight to put on my foot yet..

Confused shouldn’t the cane be on the injured foot side to provide support??
@Axesarvan4 жыл бұрын
Cane always should be on opposite side of injured leg
