My favorite JT song! I saw him in concert in 1972 at the Garden State Arts Center. The opening act was a young lady nobody had heard of. Her name was Linda Ronstadt. She had just gone solo after leaving the Stone Ponies. Great version of this song! Thanks for always teaching terrific music!

Second chord is an Em7. James plays the Bm chord open, like a D with a B in the bass.
@j.j.10649 ай бұрын
Respectfully, it's crucial to acknowledge that mastering a simplified version of a song can ultimately hinder your progress rather than enhance it. James Taylor's intricate licks, including hammer ons and pull offs, are integral to the beauty of the piece. Anything less would be a disservice to the song. Discarding the pick may seem like a challenge, but it eliminates a hindrance to achieving the song's full potential. While starting with simpler songs is advisable for technique development, there are suitable pieces for that purpose. Just as you wouldn't teach a painting student a simplified version of the Mona Lisa, tackling a complex song demands a commitment to learning it properly from the outset. Relearning after adopting shortcuts proves to be more challenging than mastering it correctly initially. I speak from experience, having played this song, and indeed the entire catalogue, since 1970. Regards. JJ

i like your Style Lauren i played Guitar for over 35 years practically all Self taught with little to none formalMusic Education As your probably Aware James Taylor with his Hammer Onand Off techniques almost reinvented playing Guitar and very few people have been capable of breaking his music down into a easier way of what i call”Cheating “ or Imitating his sounds and Music you are the first one that has made any sense to me Pehaps it’s because of how Pretty i think you are and how Beautiful your hands come out looking on Camera ? Unfortunately for myself is a few years ago i suffered some Traumatic BrainInjuries and that caused some Paralysis inmy left Arm and hand plus some other Medicalissues i essentially have a child that plays Guitar and i allowed Her to be the Custodian of all my Guitars for safe keeping for entertainment and Music Therapy for myself i watch a lot of KZbin Videos using High Quality StudioHeadphones that not only provide me with good sound they allow me to feel some Vibrations to substitute the back of my Acoustic Guitars vibrating on parts of my Body as i would wear my Guitars Strapped on to me so thank you for doing the Channel and the Demonstrations i like your Singing Voice as Well
