This is just the tutorial I've been looking for. I like collecting beer glassware of different styles and screened brands, and have wanted to do parody or mock versions as fun gifts. This would fit the bill nicely. Thanks very much.

+NateScreenPrints1 I will, once I find the same Delta paint and sealant that you used here at my local Michaels. (I had a chance earlier this week, but my knees were in pain and distracting me, so I put it off for another day.) I have plenty of glasses for practice and material for the templates, both picked up for a song at a couple of local thrift shops. And I have a head full of ideas for personalization.

thanks a lot for the quick answer! I found out that the mash is 160 at the product site. that's probably what went wrong for me since I used 70 mesh. You put up great videos, man. have a good one!

Did you ever think about using removable vinyl for the screen? You can print your own on a cricut and it might be easier then using the regular screens are to make.

Great video Nate. I had a quick question: Let's say I wanted to use this method to print one design on several glasses. Let's say 5 glasses. Is it totally necessary to clean the screen between each application? I know you mentioned that the ink drying out will ruin the screen but I was curious because it would save a little time and ink to not be cleaning the screen after every application. Thanks!
@gbowdeniv5 жыл бұрын
I think that if you use a squeegee instead of a paint brush, you should be able to do multiple glasses at once. Only trouble is being careful not to smear ink when applying/removing the template... which is why it's much easier to have a screen printing system in place to raise and lower the screen that also easily switches out glasses. You can make something like that pretty cheap. I've seen it in other videos, but only with full sized screens...

Question. You mentioned using an emulsion sheet. Did you just use the emulsion sheet or did you expose it to screening fabric? If so, where could I get the sheets and a good high quality mech count fabric? Thanks

Thank you for all you're help with screen printing. Can you tell me what type of ink you would use to screen paint on plastic like a cup or bottle? It needs to be permanent and washable.
@Utahelitegaming8 жыл бұрын
permanent means it stays on forever washable means it can be washed off you just disproved your own comment

ca i then wash them in a dishwasher? will the ink gradually get scraped away or will it fade? I hope neither of the sort happens.
@thebeststooge8 жыл бұрын
WOW, alright I see the perfect setup of 40 watt eBay Chinese laser to etch the glass then use this ink to fill in the part that was etched and it would be a nice effect.
@btsaucedo12 жыл бұрын
Ummm.... doesn't rinsing out the ink on your stencils with water break down the emulsion? I noticed you had a few spots and some smudges on your print too, why not use a lower durometer squeegee that you could easily flex around the glass so you get a more consistent amount of pressure on the surface? Just curious and not trying to be an jerk. I'm a beginner screen printer at a small warehouse, so I like to know how other people approach different methods.

one comment below said this isn't really screenprinting, but, owning a small screenprinting shop myself, i'm not sure how it's *not* screenprinting, just in a very small format. anyway, i would 'like' this video if it had more information as it showed most of the process and was easy to understand. but, it simply left out way too much basic information, and i personally am rather loathe to go searching for other videos in a series to get information that should be presented as one video, ya know? dunno, maybe it's some kind of way of monetizing the videos or something, but the reality (well, *my* reality, such as it is, lol) is that i see what appears to be the first part to this off to the side of the screen... but i'll pass in favour of 'gel image transfers,' probably forget i ever wrote this in ten minutes, and won't watch anymore of this series because it kinda feels like a crass manipulation in an effort to boost the view count. i'd probably watch it, however, if the poster would reply to some of the many questions folk have....

Is an exposure board necessary?
@NateScreenPrints18 жыл бұрын
Is holds it all together do it doesn't shift from wind or from the fan or from just walking by. It also makes sure the images are pressed right up against the screen. If it is not lying perfectly flat the edges of your images may be fussy. Just simplifies things.
