Fucking hell. I’ve been playing this beautiful game for nearly 3 years and I managed to learn a couple things from this vid that I didn’t know. And some of ur info is so right and true I feel u deserve a sub from me. I knew all about laffey’s alcoholism except for wat reason. And I learned it was bcuz her torps were fueled with hella strong wine. And it was also often drank by the ppl on board. My god! And another thing I learned today is that why her juustagram name is wat it is. And I never even knew there was a unique line for Laffey when sortied with furutaka, and also for wat reason. And I knew laffey in AL was based on both versions of the irl laffey’s but u explained it how and where. I knew the game referenced both but i always found it hard to distinctly find where it references both. Thanks for that. And after all that, I feel like u deserve to learn something today too. Sence I’m old AF in terms of AL being an older veteran I know something that most players don’t know these days. Laffey’s 2 main skills, along with many other ships skills in the game had there English (possibly Japanese but idk) names changed after the 1st anniversary if I recall. I’ve been playing this game for so long I can’t even remember when yostar passively did this but if I recall it happened between the 1st and 2nd anniversary’s. Laffey’s skill that is currently named “wargod of solomon” was originally named “Solomon’s god”. And her retrofit skill is currently named “annihilation mode” was originally named “vanquish mode”. It’s really hard to remember the other skills that had there names changed seeing as there was over a dozen and I didn’t even know all of which got changed but 1 other skill that I was already familiar with b4 the name change was the skill that is currently named “emergency maneuvers” which I have a hard time remembering but I believe it used to be called “emergency evasion”. All the other skills I don’t even remember at all, partly bcuz I didn’t even know about those skills back then, and others where bcuz I never paid enuf attention to the names to remember them. I think all the 4 starters had the main skills changed but I cud be wrong. The only reason I remember laffey’s original skills names was bcuz she’s been my number 1 sence the start and I knew her skills off by heart and that’s where I recognized the name change immediately. They did the name changes during 1 of the typical maintenances without saying a word about it. It wasn’t even in the patch notes at all. Laffey’s old skills names made her sound badass.

Unfortunately, Furutaka is an early game shipgirl who always forgotten by AL's community (& also abandoned by her artist, at least she got retrofit) & Laffey is one of the game's main character so it's getting more unlikely these 2 girl's relationship gonna be expanded...

Laffey is preserved as a museum ship in New Jersey, and can be visited today. This is in contrast to all the other starter ships and most of the ships in Azur Lane.

Yes. I've stated it in a note at the bottom (6:28) that the one in the game is the DD459. I've added the infos of 724 because its namesake is still based from Bartlett Laffey and inspired from the first ship; also, its history correlates to some of Laffey's lines inside the game. But, I think I should have made it clear in the video. Thanks for pointing it out.

Not only that but, USS Laffey drank alot and I'm not talking about the sailors. USS Laffey took on 65 kamikaze bomber aircraft single-handedly. They took 4 bomb hits and 6 kamikaze hits. Ship compartments flooded and the ship leaked it's coolant. A sailor single-handedly saved the ship from sinking/exploding by hotwiring the ships coolant system with a hose pump to cool it off with sea water. I'm pretty sure that sailor got a medal of honor, not positive, but he was awarded and seen as a hero. So yes, Laffey drinks a shitload lol. It doesn't really matter what she's drinkin because she's gonna chug that shit considering the imminent fatal outcome of going without her "secret coolant". Also the Laffey was a giant fireball 🔥 litterally burning out donuts on ocean surface for an entire 2 days because their steering/rudder was destroyed. The enemies could see the Laffey for miles and miles during the night because umm... why is there a second sun and why is the ocean on fire lmao. This is why Laffey carries a spotlight, because... umm... oh there she is! KILL HER! ATTACK!!! This is why she's narcoleptic. Her engines and steering was completely destroyed. She could only spin out and do righthand circles. Not to mention she was under attack all night by friggen 65 kamikazes unable to hide or manuever due to being a figgen fireball lmao Plz no fight Laffey. Laffey want sleep and drink and more sleep and if she doesn't get it she's gonna die... but not before she brutally slaughters her enemies in the night and then commits seppoku from dehydration Laffey strong 💪 ✋️ 🤚 💪 Lol she picks up Ayanami, forces her to go to school and chunks her into a chair and then goes right to sleep 😴 Ayanami like crosses out Laffeys name(which is at the top)on the chalk board and is like "I am almighty, I am undefeated, nothing can stop me!!! Muahaha" (I'm paraphrasing). She also slaps them in a pillow fight effortlessly and is like I was cleaning but it never gets done! She does nothing and gods to sleep and then proceeds to make others clean up the messes lmao. She just needs some good pillows tbh. Wrong Laffey. The one you're talking about was the second Laffey, an Allen M Sumner Class Destroyer. The one in Azur Lane is the earlier Benson Class Destroyer.
