Hey Donn, yet more great info! I like the idea that the acrylic ink washes so easily from the enamel painted surface, would using acrylic paint(s) for various trim, etc., be similarly easy to wash mistakes away? Many thanks!

You can completely paint strip a painted model with 90% isopropyl alcohol. Without damaging the plastic. Acrylics come off faster. A bit of soaking and a soft brush will take of lacquers. I never tried on enamels. It does not damage the plastics so if you have to remove it is worth a shot.

A great tip on the ink. Learned something new again. I use the same type of CA glues but there are times I need the parts "welded" together. That there Tamiya glue will "weld" the plastic and not just be a barrier between the two parts. Like gluing two halves together. I won't that bond to be stronger.

I've had fantastic results with BSI as a body filler & like you said, no shrinkage or cracking.

Just caught this vid. Nice, at least you have the time to get it done and give good tip to the rest of us. As for the topic of this clip, why not just recomend a wash? I think that what you're making by the thinning process. I have black, grey and a funky green washes. The run just like you are getting at. After appying these, in my experience, you follow with a Q tip a lightly rum over the grill (in this case) to get the "ribs" of the grill bright again. I also you a super glue. Love both of the examples you show. My go to however is Henkel's Loctits super glue gel. I like the gel control factor. Peace!!

Why don’t you use or recommend using an extremely fine tip marker pen for the door lines and such?
@PL-wj9tr2 жыл бұрын
Old Man thank you again for the shows. I know previously you had recommended platstruct bonding over super glue due to fogging etc has that now changed and you fell super glue is the best from further testing now ?

Good tips but I think you probably used the Tamiya panel liner incorrectly. I primarily use lacquer paints and have yet to have a problem with it.
@animalyze71202 жыл бұрын
It's not possible to use it incorrectly as it's pre mixed. You've been lucky is all, unless that Lacquer is cleared before hand it'll soak up anything laid over it. Depending on the color you may not have noticed the remains of the panel liner.
@robofatcat2 жыл бұрын
@@animalyze7120 you can use it incorrectly and I'll explain why, he mentioned that he attempted to wipe it off right after he applied it. Thats wrong the correct way to use it is to dot it in one spot, let it flow in the panel, and the let it dry, after it's dry you clean of the residue with ether Tamiya X20 or (my personal favorite) lighter fluid.
