I started watching panel shows a year ago and that’s how I know most UK comedians. There’s so many that I think are hilarious on those shows but their stand up routines are just terrible. I think that’s the primary difference between US and UK comedy. American stand up comics are great but shows like the US version of Taskmaster and The Fix (or whatever it’s called. The US panel show on Netflix that Jimmy Carr hosts.) are just awful. Americans don’t know how to riff off each other and whenever they speak in those shows it’s like their own personal monologues where they’re trying to be funny whereas UK comedians need others to banter with to really highlight how funny they are.
