His blind contempt for the audience is one of the most outstanding comedic devices of the modern era. He literally tells the audience - to their face - as pointedly and unabashedly as possible, how much he absolutely hates them, and it gets the biggest laugh of the entire show. The work you have to put in to get to the point that delivering that line is an openly appreciated crescendo is astounding. He sprinkles in just enough moments of relatable insight into his lived experience as a comic - in particular he gets you to “root for the villain” with the Mr. Bean bit and the support hotline material - that you’re so sucked into his point of view that you can’t jump on board fast enough with absolutely hating comedy audiences, and by association and without realising it, yourself. It’s mesmerising to sit back, watch, and deconstruct.

He gave a fricking moral lecture at the end, haha. That isn't my idea of good comedy, I didn't laugh once during this entire thing. Maybe you Brits have a different sense of humor? Or would he be equivalent to a Hasan Minajh in the US, only appealing to hyper partisan leftists? And since he opened the can of worms, what the hell is he talking about "until everyone is equal"? Equal in what way? Because quite literally, that has never happened in the history of the human race and it will never happen in our future. This idea that we need to discriminate against some people because other people aren't "equal" is a juvenile way to look at the world. It is like a kid friendly dumbed down version of Marx, and Marx was already a bad source of information if you care about the truth or effective solutions. The progressive ideology developed after socialism fell in Russia and therefore the world. These new progressive ideologies are like all sequels, they are cheap knock offs of the original,. This is basically communism from the back door, trying to make sure everyone is "equal" through discrimination and force of law.

@The Stonefish Such a common argument but so flawed. Treat everyone equal in terms of respect, sure, but there's such thing as punching up and down and it's extremely prevalent in comedy. It's not fair or equal for someone to "make fun" of marginalised and vulnerable groups in the way they can make fun of majority groups. See, a joke about white straight people is usually punching up or at least ahead, but a joke about black gay people is usually punching down and contributes to decades of marginalisation and bigotry under the guise of harmless fun.
@miff2272 жыл бұрын
@@unpreparedwithacapitalf and who chooses what is marginalised or vulnerable? What do the words even mean? To even attempt to think a trans person is "marginalised" means you have no concept of anything, or what words mean. Which margin? Who nudged you there? Vulnerable to what? From whom? Basically, unless you start specifying what you mean, it's all just meaningless. We are individuals, not groups. A CIS white man, for example, who has been maginalised and made vulnerable by pro-trans hiring practices and massively supported schemes and funds is not better off because of his "membership" of the CIS white man group. In fact he is treated unjustly because of it, even though these are inherrent properties he is born with. Social justice IS individual injustice. Individual injustice is always wrong.
@unpreparedwithacapitalf2 жыл бұрын
@@miff227 Miff I'm sorry but you are talking gibberish. No one has "decided" who is vulnerable. Society has slowly (and not necessarily always deliberately) marginalised groups of people. Certain groups have been in power and certain groups have been made vulnerable by those groups in power. This is how society works. If you don't know what those words mean ("marginalised" and "vulnerable") I can explain them to you.

If you're unhappy in yourself, that's okay, but don't act like they have anything to do with that. And if you don't understand it, then learning new things is not going to kill you. Nor will basic human decency. What are you so bothered by? You "suspect" everyone is embracing a trans person's "delusion"? It's weird that actual people getting harmed all over the place probably go relatively unnoticed by you, just so you can ensure that everyone knows how much you hate the progression of society, and you won't compromise your opinion just to be respectful of someone you have declared "unworthy" of your respect. How far does it go? Do you accept when someone changes only their name? Or do you say, "well your birth certificate name is what you were born with, sorry, I don't accept the new name." What about hair color? What if they get a kidney removed? That's part of their original biology. It's a pointless culture-war rage made up by the right wing establishment, so that right wingers never go looking for the things that are truly contributing to their deep unhappiness.
