Übrigends sind viele Alpha Jet Kanonen sind zum MLG geworden. Ich war bei den ersten MLG Kanonen bei uns in der Bowa (Bordwaffenwerkstatt) der Lw Werft 41 mit beteiligt. Die Bk27 Ecke in der Bowa war damals meine. Gerade diese Tage besuchte ich "meine Jungs" die nun die Bk27 und das MLG grundüberholen. War schön mal wieder "meine" Kanonen zu sehen und zu wissen, dass sie in guten Händen sind . Danke an Mike und Ingo. Gruss OFW Kalli

The upcoming version of this, the MLG 27 4.0 SeaSnake, is a system integrated CIWS btw, while the current versions of this gun are RCWS only. Entering service in 2028 with the upcoming F126 ASW frigates of the german navy, the SeaSnake 4.0 features standalone optronic, thermal optic and laser fire control sensors as well as data link integration with outsourced fire control radar illumination. Magazine depth will be 1.000 rounds standard. This system will be the standard dual purpose RCWS/ projectile based CIWS of the german navy going forward, interestingly making the german navy one of the few navies to utilize 2 seperate CIWS systems, the MLG SeaSnake and the RIM-116 RAM (currently found on all of its frigates, corvettes and major auxiliaries).

​@@aiueokakikukeko288この砲が狙うものは船やヘリコプター、陸上目標等だそうで、そういった低速の目標ならば連射でばら撒くのではなく、バースト射撃でも命中弾が見込めるため小さな弾倉容量でも問題ないと考えられているのかもしれません。

@@ねこ-f1z 30mm以下でこの弾数は流石に少なすぎますね(下手な装甲戦闘車より少ない)。 これは旧式の機関砲と置き換えるが船体には大きな設計変更をせずポン付けできるよう重量を抑える事が求められたので、どうしても弾薬容量に制限がありました。

Take a look for the newer version, the Sea Snake. Same Gun but with some nice improvements, including more space for rounds at the gun. It looks very stealthy and keeps the electronic components within the vessels, what make it longer lasting as well. An it uses a touch screen for much easier and precise firing.

Difference is that the SeaSnake 4.0 is a dual purpose RCWS/CIWS while the current iterations are RCWS only (role of CIWS in the german navy is currently covered by the RIM-116 RAM)

@@dopepopeurban6129 I guess that split came from a time before RAM HASS, now RAM alone could shoot down almost everything but with high price for munition. Just a warning shot would not be possible with RAM I guess.

Totally different role... The MLG isn't a missile defense system, it's against helicopters, small boats etc - think "Somalian pirates"

@@jnievele Yeah, I looked into it some more. Interesting piece of kit Still : rate of fire: 1000 or 1700 rounds per minute (selectable) and an ammunition box with a 90 round capacity.

Soweit ich weiß, bringt diese Waffe(Revolverprinzip) in den ersten Sekunden mehr Projektilgewicht gegen das Ziel in die Luft als ähnliche Waffen, die nach dem Gatlingprinzip funktionieren und Anlaufzeit prauchen.

​@@kdmuller5884 Genau so ist es. Ich war über 13,5 Jahre LFZ WaMechMeister bei der industriemäßigen Inst (MES 3 und 4), nur so zur info. Ich kenne beide, die BK27mm und die M61 sehr gut wobei die BK27 „mein Baby“ war, Von daher kann ich das was du schreibst bestätigen

It is designed for precise short bursts, with 90 rounds typically sufficient to neutralize targets effectively. The german Mauser had a rrally vig advantage against Gatling & Co.. our typgoon and Tornado use the same 27mm Mauser. The reaction time is much faster.
