I’ve actually read a book that had a premise along these lines. The players were trapped in NPC loops and spent thousands of years reliving the same day. Eventually some of them “wake up” and realize that they have been doing the same day over and over again. The main character fished everyday and got their fishing absurdly high which gave adjacent weapon skills an absurd rating too
