My favourite subtle moment is when Gwen and Miles are sitting upside down. At the end she leans on his shoulder. It's such a small but powerful moment because normally that action is a relaxing motion and signifies you feel comfortable with someone, but because they're upside down Gwen would have to fight gravity to do it, it's a tensing motion and instead conveys something like, that Miles makes her feel uncomfortable but in a good way, like she's stepping out of her comfort zone and it feels good.

That whole scene, from the moment Gwen walks around the parapet to set on the underside, with her little "thips" to anchor herself there, is amazing! The way her ponytail drops "up" (in her perspective), the subtle moves of Miles' hand as she tells her story - it's a master class in how to craft an unbelievable scene! This movie if absolutely amazing, and I'm so happy I got to see it!

"Adults" with childish mindset proclaim animated content is made for kids, and time and time again they're shown what animation is capable of, in other words, near limitless of possibilities, and they aren't scared to imply gore and strong scenes to better showcase what they are capable of in animation, which would've been very hard to recreate in a movie, not to mention how much more freedom they have over the crew working on their movies. The only limit in animation is ones creativity

Yeah, but then we get a comment like "I would love to see a live-action Miles but I'll _settle_ for animation for now". The inherent bias against animation is still there. @@etherwingthe problem originates from Disney being for kids and maintains itself because not marketing animation to kids would be a huge blow to profits. The west just sees it as “kids stories” when it’s just a different medium of storytelling. The reason anime is so popular is because Japan has arguably valued the medium of animation more than live action, and thus utilizes it to its full potential. Western animation is only now starting to catch up. And while Arcane and Spiderverse are gorgeous, I hope companies also realize 3D isn’t the future of animation, it’s just an alternative. Demon Slayer proves essentially any argument the west needs to learn: - Animation isn’t just for kids - Mature animation can be massively profitable - 2D animation can evolve past 90’s Disney style.

If you look back her world was always bright and with those pink colors whenever she was spider woman, even during some tough parts. And then it'd be darker while she was Gwen, or not as bright, slowly losing color. Because she felt like she was lying as "Gwen", and didn't like that side of her life because of the lie/disconnect with her dad. That was the first time in her world where it brightened up as Gwen, for the first time she's happy everywhere instead of just half her world : )

I've done this on every reaction I've seen, but it's so worth pointing out. For Hobie's animation, they used a completely unconventional style in order to emphasize how against the system he is. So against it that even his animation doesn't follow the structure. Also, in the first movie, Miles's background was black and purple, symbolizing the fact that he was supposed to be the Prowler in his universe, but the colors changed when he was bitten by the spider.

The first Spider-Verse movie was the first Marvel role for Kathryn Hahn, Hailee Steinfeld, and Bryan Tyree Henry before they went on to portray live-action characters in the MCU’s Phase Four. This time we had actors who already had live-action Marvel roles before voicing characters in this movie. Karan Soni, the voice of Pavitr, previously portrayed Dopinder in the Deadpool movies. And yes, he’s returning for part 3 which has paused production due to the ongoing actors’ and writers’ strike. Daniel Kaluuya, the voice of Hobie Brown/Spider-Punk, previously portrayed W’Kabi in Black Panther 2018. And of course, Oscar Isaac was Apocalypse and Moon Knight. However, in Oscar’s case, Miguel O’Hara is chronologically his second Marvel role. Into the Spider-Verse had that one post-credit scene with Miguel and Lyla. One of my favorite funny moments was when The Spot kicked himself and fell into a scary portal before he could finish his sentence. Also, you gotta admit that the one spot that makes up his face turning into a little dot was kinda cute. I also liked how cartoony the first fight was. Between spinning in the car wash to the Foam Party becoming an actual foam party with Miles and Spot “dancing” to the kid taking off his mask, I couldn’t stop laughing the first time around. @24:12 another funny moment is meeting Pavitr. I love his energy and humor. The Lego sequence was put together not by a team of animators but rather by a 14-year-old kid named Preston Mutanga. He has his own KZbin channel called LegoMe_TheOG. Sony heard about his work and reached out to him with this incredible job offer. Preston is gonna go far. Lenny was voiced by Ziggy Marley, one of Bob Marley’s children. When Hobie says he hates the a.m. and the P.M, he’s respectively talking about the morning and the Prime Minister. The head-writers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller invited Karan to the writers’ room to pitch in ideas for Pavitr. They were aiming for his character to be culturally specific. In the comics, Pavitr wasn’t bitten by a radioactive spider. Rather a yogi granted him spider powers through magic. However, there’s no confirmation that it works the same way in this film. Pavitr fights using an Indian martial art called Kalaripayattu. A small animation team from Kerala, India was tasked to help animate Pavitri's movements. His Spidey mask has design inspirations from Theyyam, a Hindu ritual from Kerala. Malala Windsor, the British Spider-Woman with the hijab, is an original character created for this movie. This direct incarnation of Spider-UK was never introduced in the comics, but after this she might eventually get her own run. For me, Childish Gambino’s cameo was the biggest surprise in the entire movie. There’s no confirmation whether live-action Aaron Davis/Prowler is the same one from Spider-Man: Homecoming. For all we know, this might be a What If situation. In other words, he’s from an entirely separate dimension/timeline. Speaking of which, the canon events are absolute points like what we saw with Strange Supreme in What If season 1. The way I understand it, the Spider Society is pretty much a Spidey-themed TVA. A major difference is that they don’t prune dimensions. Rather, they try to save them from collapsing. @34:13 Metro Boomin’ make it boom. That’s record producer Metro Boomin’ making a cameo. He curated the soundtrack for this film. The deluxe edition has six bonus tracks aside from the main thirteen. That reminds me: Hummingbird, the song heard in the background when Miles is grounded, was co-written, co-produced, and performed by James Blake. He happens to be married to Jameela Jamil, the actress who portrayed She-Hulk’s rival Titania. Peter is a great mentor but also an irresponsible father for bringing Mayday to a steel mill with all kinds of equipment that can easily harm her. Miguel has the best of intentions with preventing the multiverse from collapsing, but I didn’t like that he called Miles a mistake and blamed him for everything that happened. Miles never asked to get bitten by a radioactive spider, but he’s doing his best and making the most of the situation. @36:58 Gwen had been lying to Miles throughout the whole film. Granted most of them were menial, but her knowing that he wasn’t supposed to be Spider-Man was the final straw. He said goodbye to her like she did to him. And finally, it’s weird but also cool that Earth-42’s version of J. Jonah Jameson and The Daily Bugle would actually support a Spider-Man rather than call him a menace all the time. Going into this, I knew we were gonna be left on a cliffhanger. This movie was originally a two-parter. They ended up renaming the third movie Beyond the Spider-Verse, but the concept remains the same.

It seems to tie up with Peter B, because the universe where Miguel replaced himself and ended up destroying seemed to be Peter's (he even says "Isn't that right, Peter?"). It would explain why Peter B would be willing to stab Miles in the back, but it doesn't explain how he seems to have a good, stable life with MJ and their baby.

The Donald Glover scene was a crazy full circle moment. Bendis designed Miles after Donald Glover after seeing Glover dressed up as Spidey on the show Community. Glover had been sneaking in Spider-man references as part of his campaign to play Spider-man, something that started as a gag in his stand-up. Glover would later get to voice Miles in the cartoons and of course, played the MCU's Uncle Aaron in Homecoming who would later become the Prowler as you saw here. PS - Please watch Community ❤

Ramble time!: The spider-person in the wheelchair is Sun-Spider, and she has Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, which my wife also has (hEDS specifically)! It affects the connective tissues in the body, and it can range from relatively mild where your joints 'slip out' when lifting things, or it can be so bad that you literally can't walk without help because the act of standing and moving under your own weight will dislocate your hips/knees/ankles, so wheelchairs and walking aids are necessary for a lot of hEDS-havers (but not all). My wife's not actually supposed to lift anything heavier than ten pounds, but we have a pretty chonky cat, so you can guess how well that works. (Side rant: She also gets told all the time, "You're too young to be disabled, you're just being lazy," or "You don't LOOK disabled," when she tries to explain that she can't do something that involves a lot of physical activity or lifting.) Getting to see that Sun-Spider made it into the movie, even if only for a few seconds... honestly, super emotional about it still. The CARE that put into her wheelchair and crutches on the character design sheets (they were posted on Twitter by the artist)... every character was redesigned and added into this movie with so much respect and love, it's never going to stop blowing me away. This is a love letter to all things Spider-Man and you can tell.

I love the parallels between Peter and Miles in this movie so much😍 Both are people with an incredible amount of potential, and when they get bitten, it's like they found their calling and become these great heroes, but when the spider doesn't bite them, it's like they grow bitter against the unfairness of this world and their role as an unimportant side character, so they force fate by making the lizard elixir or becoming the prowler which makes them become villains in someone else's story. Peter in Gwen's story is just like Harry in The Spectacular Spider-Man, and Miles' Prowler reminds me of the Prowler in The Ultimate Spider-Man, because he only became a villain to care for or save his brother (don't remember), and ProwlerMiles probably only became a villain to help his mom, since she can't pay all the bills😭 I love how this acknowledges that anyone can become a hero or a villain. It's not only your character that defines who you are, but also the circumstances and the ability to grow out of these circumstances.

Did you know... Donald Glover is the reason Miles Morales was created? After Toby's Spider-Man, when they were going to reboot, there was an online grassroots campaign to make Donald Glover Spider-Man. He even screen tested for the role. In the end, it went to Andrew Garfield. But, the online support for Donald was soo huge, that they created Miles in the "Ultimate Universe," that Marvel had at the time -- to make fans happy. In the story, it was similar to Into the SpiderVerse, where they kill off the Peter Parker in that Universe and have Miles take over, but we still got Peter in the main Marvel Universe. Later, when they animated Spider-Man (can't remeber the name of the animated show) Donald Glover plays the voice of Miles, when he crosses paths with the main Marvel Peter Spider-Man. I'm glad that they are keeping Donald's involvement going.

This movie breaks my heart in so many ways, and I was NOT prepared for the cliffhanger at the end. I'm glad they did, though, because I would hate for them to rush it. Schnee did an amazing video on Hobie Brown, which is basically talking about how he's a deep character who tricks us into thinking that he's shallow at first. Kind of a "better a witty fool than a foolish wit"... and Miguel is definitely a foolish wit. Still, I love Miles' journey of self-actualization across these movies... and it resonates very strongly with me. I love this movie... heck, I love both of these movies, and I am excited for next year, which is when Beyond the Spider-Verse is slated to come out (we'll see how the writer's strike does with that).

“Is he even a Spider-Man?” That debate has been going on since 1992 lol. I argue that he is not. He wasn’t bitten. He actively sought out Spider-Man powers. To me, this is the opposite of what makes someone Spider-Man

For anyone wondering why Miguel is so opposed to anomalies it’s because his doomed universe is filled with anomalies. One of which kills him before 2099 hits 2100

He did not seek out Spider-Man powers. Granted, he was working on a project to recreate Spider-Man's powers for Alchemax's corporate raider program, but he didn't try to give any powers to himself. His powers were the result of him trying to cure himself of the Rapture his boss had laced his drink with to keep him dependent on the company after he tried to quit, and his coworker Aaron Delgado mixing in spider DNA during the procedure in an attempt to kill him. Luckily for Miguel, he didn't die and instead gained a variation of Spider-Man powers.

@@mranima748 Perfectly valid argument. There’s no wrong answers. I’m just giving my personal opinion on why I wouldn’t categorize him as a Spider-Man. I also greatly disagree with his opinion that a tragic loss is canon to making someone a Spider-Man. I don’t believe someone needs to suffer great loss to become motivated as a force for good. I believe people are equally as motivated by the fear of loss. One doesn’t have to suffer to understand suffering. They just need empathy.

Gwen was a little jealous of Spider-Byte and Miles flirting by how she snatched him away from her.. Gwen Spidey-Sense is so strong for Miles that she could sense him in danger in another Dimeson. Miles Dad in universe 42 most have died earlier in his life cause his accent is heavier from spending more time around his mom.

I hope that, "I think it's a Banksy," guy comes back for Beyond the Spider-verse, like the cabbage guy from Avatar: the Last Airbender. Cuz he was in Into the Spider-verse, when the collider started and it messed up Brooklyn right before, Peter was killed by the Kingpin, if you remember Angela I don't know why, when I wrote Avatar, I heard it in Uncle Iroh's voice(Ah-vi-tar) Bt-dubs and by the way, the voice actor who played Uncle Iroh, died right after he finishes his voice work on the show. So, when you see the tribute for him on the show. It's going to be not only a very profound episode, I'm sure you'll have tears over the episode. Know that, that episode was dedicated to him. That way you'll know ahead of time, and perhaps not catch it, or realize he actually died and question in on the reaction 😭😁

I love watching your reactions and was beyond excited to see this one. This movie blew the stakes and emotions through the roof since the last one. I was emotional turmoil once “to be continued” flashed at the end. Both sides made legitimate points but in the end, I had to side with Miles. Spider-Man always finds a way and the entire spider society failed to uphold the values they swore to defend since day one. I hope they realize that in the next one. Keep it up girl!!! Love your content

I was glad that they made Jessica Drew pregnant. It was so unexpected when comics!Jess showed up on the cover of her book in 2015 six months pregnant but still in costume, but it was a fun story and being a mom has become an important part of her evolution as a character. In the comics she's been a mentor to Gwen and I'm hoping we get to see more of that in the next movie.

The general theme of the movie is actually a metanarrative of the character Miles Morales's initial audience reception. You know how the some sections of the internet and general toxic human behavior goes. For one reason or another iykyk, a significant enough number of spider-man fans gave Miles Morales such pushback/hate on his comic series. Sentiments such as "He's not my spider-man" is very much a thing. So the entire story thread/theme that Miles's mom lays down when she said, "Never let anyone tell him, that he doesn't belong there," and Miles' line towards Miguel in the train scene, "Everyone keeps telling me how my story is supposed to go. Nah, Imma do my own thing," they're much so more poetic knowing how actual irl people received his initial comic book runs. This movie is a masterpiece. Period. Hoping they deliver on third movie as well.
