Orthax isn't necessarily strictly bound to The List. Ripley may have been able to connect to Orthax the same way Percy did in the first place; by forging her OWN gun for purposes of VENGENCE.

Orthax definitely knew he had another easy target to take advantage of who needed his inspiration to create their first fully functional firearms in each case, lol. Since the demon was inhabiting Percy's body when Percy shot himself in his hand to hurt him enough that it forced him to retreat back into the list, but VM being unaware that a demon can't be killed on the prime material plane, only if killed in their home plane of the abyss. Matt used those details masterfully

Soon as someone else picks up on the fact that Orthax is willing to grant that type of power to anyone who will give it souls to feast upon, they are free to forge a new pact with it. Which Ripley clearly did.

The spice thing was a campaign moment. Before the party left one of their guards asked them to pick up an item for him, a spice from home since he couldn't go to the city. He didn't want to say why he couldn't go back, so the party figured he got in trouble with the law and the spice was a code for drugs. So they figured they couldn't just ask for it, so Scandal stood at a crossroads and asked random people if they spiced. They eventually found what their guard wanted, bought a ton of it, massive overpaid for it, and then tried to smoke or snort it. When they got back home they found out it was actually just spice used for cooking. Their guard was very happy. :p

Highly recommend watching EXU: Calamity it’s a 4 part prequel ran by Brennan Lee Mulligan about the destruction of the floating city Avalir way in the past the whole thing is incredible. Travis (Grog), Marisha (Keyleth) and Sam (Scanlan) play different characters with guests Lou Wilson and Aabria Iyengar (both on Dropout/D20) and Luis Carazo episode 4 especially was crazy

The scene in the beginning reminds me of a fun CR fact. Vax *hated* riding the broom. Vex had no problem using it, but according to Liam, Vax's well... Anatomy made the experience very unpleasant. Also, they changed the favor Scanlan requested from Vex. In the campaign, Scanlan said that whenever Vex would ride her broom, she would have to wear the witch hat he bought for her.

I can't remember if I found this channel because I wanted to see people react to Arcane or Vox Machina but as a fan of the Expanse, I stuck around and have enjoyed your other reacts like BSG, Avatar, Blue Eye Samurai, Firefly, Last of Us, One Piece, Gen V, The Boys, Fallout. It's been fun. Glad CR is back. I can't wait for CR Mighty Nein to appear on Prime to see your reactions. The Plate of the Dawnmartyr won't be Percy's vestige. Percy doesn't really do heavy armor. There's one member of Vox Machina that does, though. Also, remember Raishan's "Finally, a rational mind," comment. If they stick to the events of the original campaign, that'll come back later. Also also, Ripley doesn't have the old pepperbox. She's just now working with the demon that Percy had made a pact with before.

Yay!! Youre definitely one of the top reactors i was hoping to see! No spoilers but the cast themselves have said we are in for a ride this season and knowing whats coming makes me believe them. I know its ridiculous to suggest watching/reacting to 18-20 hours of dungeons anddragons but EXU calamity is the absolute pinnacle of live action roleplay and Brennan, travis, laura, and sam are all at the top of their game. The other 3 guests are also incredible. Im sure youve seen Lou in d20, and aabria and Luis are also amazing in the series. A few other reactors have reacted to it and have good-ish numbers, but even if you just watch it its worth it. Travis is the number 1 hype man for anything ever, im sure youll see what i mean

The thing I've really grown to love about the Critical Role games is how time continues to move forward and characters reappear as NPCs later. It's like running into a friend from high school unexpectedly. Obviously no spoilers for who, when or where. But it's been really cool when familiar faces have reappeared.

Every season, the animation/fight scenes and storylines have improved and this season continues with that. I think it's got some of the best animations I've seen recently in popular media and as someone who watched the original campaign, the storyline is going to be awesome to see animated. I wouldn't be surprised if Gilmore didn't use Prestidigitation or Wind Gust constantly to just flap his collar in the wind. Everyone around him on a calm day is thinking "Where is this breeze at that billows Gilmore's cloak?" "Why is he not with the group?" This is why you don't split the party. Grog wandering off in Season 2 when the rest had to face the Slayers Take. Now, Scanlan looking for his daughter as the rest deal with Ripley.

When I was listening to the season 1 podcast a few years ago I was so tired of Keyleth and how she was acting. I saw it as being intentionally difficult and obstructing what the party wanted to do. But with more time I think it was a pretty good roleplay choice by Marisha (so long as it didn't cause trouble at the table and the other players were okay with it).

I think the big issue was that when it became pretty clear that Raishan was being on the level with them, despite it obviously being an alliance of convenience (the enemy of my enemy is my friend), that she kept trying to antagonize or wanting to be the first to double cross. and she argued with the team every time they pointed out they KNEW it was just a short-term thing, but a necessary evil at the time. While I agree it was pretty in line with Keyleth's character, it got grating after awhile.

To use an analogy from history, from the other PC's perspective, working with Raishan is similar to the British working with Stalin during WWII: sure, they are bad people who will probably betray us the second their goals are reached, but we can trust them until that moment. From Keyleth's point of view, Raishan created the entire situation: she let Thordak out, he killed half of Pyrah, destroyed Emon (and she helped him do it) . This is personal with her. Could you work with someone who killed half your family, no matter what you were both working towards?

As a half elf, Kiki has a naturally longer lifespan than most of the others. But as a high level druid, she will get something called timeless body. She will essentially age one year for every 10 that passes. Keylith could potentially live to be 800-1000. Eventually, she will outlive them all.

Monks can ignore the consequences of their age, but do still age at a normal rate. I don’t know if any of what I’ve said is changed in the 2024 PHB though.

Keyleth is a special kind of Druid, she only ages one day every year, she will live for centuries so eventually everyone else in Vox Machina will die, leaving her alone. Also a little bit of trivia, Liam (Vax) also voices Vorugal, the ice dragon. The "Mythcarver ho" Scanlan sings I am sure is a reference to when Matt did voice work for the Thundercats animated series. Ripley did not fish out Percy's pepperbox, she is an engineer as well and copied his idea to make her own pepperbox (pistol). She even mentioned that he copied her design.

I know it's a new space and you're still working on it, but I just have to give you some props right off the bat for the neon sign in the bottom right corner of the screen. Intentional or accidental, the PIP covers it and it provides nice background color and ambiance, and then the PIP disappears and it re-materializes in the bottom right corner of the screen as if to remind the viewer where they are. the vision is what Keyleth fears she is a druid at the height of their they age very slowly. 1 year equals 10 years for a normal individual so keyleth would outlive most people.

No spoilers on what, but Brennan Lee Mulligan did run a short few episode standalone story for Critical Role in the past that a lot of people laud as some of their best content and also theorize is possible to get adapted into at least a movie if not a single season animation, so there is definitely crossover potential ;)

So, just a little info on Vax’s vision while kissing Keyleth: As a druid, when she reaches a certain level, her age slows to a crawl (aging one year for every 10 that passes, I think). Being a half-elf, she already has a long life, add in this slow aging and she will outlive everyone else in Vox Machina.

Keyleth is a Druid, and in D&D, high level druids ages 10x slower than normal, that combined with a half-elven lifespan, Keyleth could in theory out live everyone else on the team (assuming everyone dies from old age)

So much happened this episode! I really love Raishan's design and also how unbelievably overwhelming Thordak is, even with all the vestiges they gathered. When this was going on during the campaign people shit ALL OVER Marisha Ray (Keyleth) for being antagonistic to Raishan, which made zero sense to me. Of course Keyleth would be pissed at the dragon who released the Dragon version of Godzilla and wiped out one of her tribes. Raishan literally is called "the Deceiver," what was she was supposed to think?
