The correlation between nurse and hero I get on a personal level. My wife of 44+ years is a nurse, and she's always been my hero. We have gone on a number of aid trips. She's a hero for everyone in the villages we visit. She heals them and I teach them, but more importantly, they teach me as well.

The part that hits me most is Baymax downloading data on grief and immediately contacting his friends. Sometimes when we're down we need our friends and family (those that we trust, anyway) to barge in on us and drag us out. Also, calling Baymax "Beta-Max" made me laugh. Did your family have one of those when you were a kid, too?

Yeah they made a LOT of changes to adapt it into a Disney style movie, but I actually really like what they did with it. It may be totally different from the source material, but I think what they created is great. For example, in the comics, Fred/Fredzilla is actually a mutant who has the power to shapeshift into a Godzilla-like kaiju. And Baymax is instead a massive, bipedal dragon-like robot whose artificial intelligence is a copy of Hiro’s dead father. Similar relationship to the one seen in the movie, but a MUCH less cute and cuddly exterior. Then there’s Gogo being a mutant with super speed who can transform into a ball of explosive energy, and Wasabi actually being a chef who can manifest his chi into swords and throwing knives. Honey Lemon is probably the most accurate to the comics, they didn’t really change her much. The team has ties to the X-Men, with their original leader being the Silver Samurai, an ex-villain who was once one of Wolverine’s greatest enemies. He has the power to empower anything he touches with a field of tachyon energy, which makes any weapon he wields sharper and more powerful than adamantium. After he left the team, he appointed the genius 13-year old inventor Hiro as the new leader.

Hiro's final line in his speech for his Nanobots "If you can think it, the Microbots can do it. The only limit is your imagination.". Allegedly that's based on something Walt Disney himself would say to his staff. Both as his personal catchphrase and a rallying cry at the start of the work day. Walt Disney was many things positive and negative but his belief that creating was limitless because of human's sheer imagination.

Aunt Cass says "Last hug!' when she hugs Hiro and Tadashi, and at the end of the movie Hiro says "Last hug!" when hugging Cass before heading to the college. This can be read as a "Alright, one more before you go!" but considering just how many people Aunt Cass has lost, it might have become a coping-mechanism "joke" for Cass, feeling like she missed opportunities earlier in her life.

"Tadashi is here." Always gets me! There is a series done with this same animation called: " Baymax! " It caused a bit of a stir for featuring an episode where girl gets her period. I thought it was a very cute show and appreciated the episode. (I think each episode is under 10 mins, you can find them on KZbin) Then there is a cartoon with multiple seasons which I have not seen. It's called: " Big Hero 6 " This movie hits so much harder now, my Mom passed away 2 years ago. The Big Hero 6 are actually a gang of Marvel superheroes, kind of like the X-Men or the Avengers - just a more obscure one. This film can be thought of as an adaptation of their origin story. The original comics actually took place in Tokyo, but of course this adaptation changed it up a bit and created San Fransokyo, an alternate history version of San Francisco that was rebuilt with Japanese technology after being totally destroyed by an earthquake.

Ah yes, this film holds a very special place in my heart. About two years before it was released, a cousin of mine passed away. We were very close growing up and he was basically the big brother I never had (and I’m an only child, so it really meant a lot having a brotherly bond). He taught me how to be self confident and to always believe in myself. When I got the news that he suddenly died, it seriously hit me hard. So I know exactly what Hiro was going through in this movie. And from what I gather, it is an experience we both have the burden of carrying.

Both are revenge stories but BES is framed from the perspective of the person seeking revenge, while Big Hero 6 turns out to be framed from the perspective of the innocent victims revenge leaves in the wake of its collateral damage. Obviously the age demographics are vastly different between the two stories, but this film showing the flipside of that coin is an interesting mirror.

When I first watched Blue Eye Samurai, there was an aspect of Ringo that reminded me of Beta Max, like Ringo is a beautiful extension of Beta Max, at one point Beta Max speaks of a 'Revenge Story', similar to Ringo's reply of he and Mizu riding a 'Revenge Boat' to their destination.

There was a sequel series on the Disney Channel that picks up right after the movie left off. It has most of the main voice cast return with the exception for the voices of Wasabi and Fred. It's 2D animation but it's really good and does a really good job of extending the story of the team.

The original intention was to make a film franchise. That changed to a 3 or 4 year series with 56 episodes and a second series called Baymax.

Still a better role than Valentino in “Wish”… sorry for bringing down the mood, that character and movie being mediocrity at its finest isn’t his (or most of the cast and crew’s) fault.

I love Hiro taking on her brother’s ultimate legacy at the end without a thought: “Someone needs to help”. I also love how TERRIFYING Baymax was after Hiro took out the programming and how hard the others had to fight to keep Baymax from ending Callahan right then and there.

In the comic books, Jane Foster is a paramedic. She works in an ambulance. Her bravery is what turned Thor's eye. So when she became Lady Thor, she was a superhero paramedic, which is really cool. There is also Night Nurse, a title that has been carried by multiple people over the years at Marvel. She is not a superhero, but she provides medical care to heroes and villains who want to avoid the hospital for whatever reason. If you watch the Daredevil TV show, you will meet one version of her. Dr Strange's ex-girlfriend is based on a comic book character who was Night Nurse for a while. There are a couple of heroes who are medical doctors (such as Dr Strange). Doc Sampson is a psychiatrist. He's the one who figured out that Dr Banner has Dissociative Identity Disorder.

Yeah, people don't talk about this film enough, its really a hidden gem. I can't remember if they said they're making a second one, but regardless.. UGH!! still SO GOOD!!.. I love the parallel of when Hiro said "Someone has to help!", just like Tadashi did before going into the burning building. Also, the later scene when Baymax asks Hiro if he's "satisfied with his care", dang Disney/Pixar just knows exactly when to strike, huh? 😥. But anyway, really great reaction... EVERYONE DESERVES A BAYMAX IN THEIR LIVES 😊

I was fooled about the identity of the villain. My favorite bits with Baymax are the Scotch tape, and the low battery. I had wondered what happened to the old school GP doctor. I've spent a fair amount of time in hospitals the past 7 years (stroke), and discovered that registered nurses are the modern equivalent. They are the ones who do all the grunt work and get things done.

I've never lost a person. My only experience with death was my dog. Our beautiful little girl, only four when she left. It was cancer. The tumors in her mouth progressed so severely that even if they cured it, she'd lose half her jaw. And we made the decision to send her away before she lost the jaw. Because that just wouldn't be a life worth living. I miss you Panda. From your slightly off goofy owner. I'll see you again one day. Someday. In the next life.

Thank you for always offering your genuine emotional reactions to stories like this. It's extremely cathartic and watching reactions like this honestly feels like it gives the viewer permission to also cry. It feels a little embarrassing to admit since it's personal, but you've already put your personal story out there so I feel like you deserve to also know that what you do also comforts people who need the additional push to let go and embrace the emotional connection to stories like this. I love your channel.

48:18 that's sounds like a SM relationship. We reccommend stuff that makes you cry and you consent to what will gonna make you cry. And then we all watching you crying, while crying ourselves with you. - - I often catch myself reaching for the tissues at the same moment you do. Which means I don't imagine that certain scenes are incredibly touching or sad, etc.
