He was joking about who pays for the pizza during the fight. He didn't take it seriously until Kate was dead. There were so many better options than sending three low-powered heroes to die.

Cecil isn’t a complete jerk, and while he has ulterior motives for extending the hand of friendship, none of the superheroes ever seem to negotiate effectively with Cecil. And while I know what happens in the comic books, I just have to ask, why doesn’t Cecil just offer a compensation package and on-demand part-time degree programs for the teen superheroes? They have options for child actors to get an education and have a life outside of acting, so why can’t they find an alternative option? Or hell, just put Mark on a similar program as the GI Bill. He earns a free ride to college for a four year commitment to the Earth, plus hazard pay, the whole bit. In four years, you’re telling me Cecil and Donald couldn’t find an alternative solution to the problem?

Yeah I understood and liked Cecil in season 1, but I'm really getting to hate him this season. He treats the guardians and mark like cheap workers, almost like dogs or slaves. You'd think after Omni-Mans Betrayal and all the damage he caused, Cecil would've learned to tread superheroes more cautiously and give his best to not land on their bad side. But he just spits orders at them, offers nothing in return and acts almighty, as if some of them couldn't easily rip him in two pieces. I really hope next episode someone punches him in the face and spills the beans at him, for being such a prick and making those teens already uneasy lifes even harder - and even sending some of them to their deaths (Cecil is smart, so I think he damn well knew that Rex, Kate and Raes chances against the Lizard League weren't that great. Maybe he even hoped they would get him rid of Rex)

Rae was a good shock for me. One of the best things about the show is it changes just enough from the comics that comic fans like me (Invincible is my favorite comic of all time) is that it follows the story from the comic in general terms, but the individual moments and order of events are different enough to make it feel new to me

The Lizard League was a parody of Cobra from GI Joe and Magnetos Brotherhood Of Mutants. Too many parody shows were just turning certain caricature characters and fictional organizations into ONE DIMENSIONAL non fleshed out jokes that play off like a dead horse. Cecil could have sent in teams and hunted them down WHEN THEY WERE A JOKE. And look what happened.

SPOILERS: Shrinking Rae's death is easily Top 5 most disturbing deaths i've ever seen, and Dupli-Kate's was straight out of a Mortal Kombat Finisher, but honestly this needed to happen. Robot picked some bums for the Guardians of the Globe Roster. Anyone who gets put on that team needs to clear a minimum durability threshold. Also, Rex needed to get humbled like this, thry might have all lived if he'd taken the confrontation seriously from jump.

Having members with zero super strength against someone like him was just a horrible matchup. If Bulletproof, Immortal or Samson was there it would have been a different outcome entirely.

But honestly, I don't understand why almost nobody in fiction ever uses the "biggest prosthesis in history" explanation in situation like Cecil found himself in. "Bigger and stronger" screams "you're modified, changed, not oneself", screams "we made you anew to our liking" - prosthesis route hints at something already tested, accepted in society as something that really helps the wounded, just attached to the unchanged "core you", and in Donald's case just applied on bigger scale - and I'd say avoiding shocks is bed manner 101 in patients like these.

The comics backstory for the shapesmith is actually pretty different. In the comics, he was part of a rebel group that believed the story of how the sequids became the servants and their hivemind mind control was a lie told to justify the enslavement of the sequids and they purposely used Russ as a host to free them. When it went bad is when he left Mars with the earth astronauts i believe. I'm going off memory here, so i might have gotten some details/timeline stuff wrong. But he may be lying about his backstory here. I don't understand Amanda/Monster Girl's reaction to robot this episode. She's the one who told him about how her curse works and how the training can't be too frequent in season 1, and he altered the training to accommodate. He's just trying to do the same here. Is it simply because they went on the date that she's looking at it differently than when he was in charge? In the comics Donald always knew he was a cyborg In the comics, Amber told people that Mark's grandpa had died and he was out dealing with everything.

Andressa was not the Empress before Nolan. Nolan was crowned Emperor, and he picked Andressa. And yes, Andressa is similar to Debbie. Nolan loves Debbie so much that he cannot help but pick similar women. Everyone points to Nolan's savage line about Debbie being a pet, but in reality, Viltrumites rarely, if ever, stay with the same mate. Their courtship rituals are also quite savage, and often result in serious injury. In Nolan's defense, you love and take care of your pets, you feed and protect them because often, pets are not strong enough to do so on their own, so in his mind and culture, Debbie would qualify more as a pet. Cue the angry people screeching about "You don't have sex with your pets!" Clearly, you are unfamiliar with the beastiality laws in many countries here on our own planet. "That's against the law!" Nope, not in many countries. Canada for one allows you to do so with no legal repercussions. I guess it gets really cold and lonely up there.

IMHO the writers just wanted rid of them to make the scripts simpler and give more room for the 'main' characters to fill out 😅 With so many characters it's nigh on impossible to do them all justice, so most just turn into caricatures.

We saw plenty of other heroes in the Omnipotus flashback. They might have not survived that fight, though. And Cecil might not have as much control over them as he does over the Guardians. As for wanting to get rid of them... nah, their deaths are straight from the books (bit more graphic in Rae's case), and Kirkman had no trouble adding new characters all the time (plus, if he'd wanted them off the main series, he could've always have moved them to other series like Capes Inc, or Brit, or the Guardians of the Globe spin off. If anything it was for shock value, or to push some of the plots further.

People hating on Cecil whose job it is to protect the entire world. Meanwhile Omni Man kills thousands and they’re like “aww, but he’s a good dad.” I heard the BTK was a good dad too. Don’t see anyone going to bat for him. And he didn’t kill 1,000s of innocent men, women, and children.

@number1fool debatable. Cecil allowed Nolan to pretend he didn't kill the Guardians instead of confronting him. Also, raw numbers of deaths are a silly way to tell who is more evil. Was Hitler better than Ghengis Khan? One killed about 12 million. The other killed around 40 million. What about Mao or Stalin? The US worked with Stalin against Hitler and Stalin killed far more people than Hitler.

Except unlike most superhero stuff, deaths usually stick in Invincible. This is the same universe were Spawn, Witchblade, and The Darkness exist. It's a grim place.

Well mustaches seem to be a big deal in viltrumite culture so he likely grew out a beard when he decided to hide his origins. Which would be way safer than having your fake beard accidentally fall off

The death's of Dupli-Kate and Rae make no sense. As long as Kate has one copy alive, she not in danger - so why not just leave one version home? As for Rae, she could have shrunk down smaller to avoid getting crushed by the Komodo's throat muscles. Maybe I am reading their abilities wrong.
