6:02 remember when hohenhiem first met izumi and he asked her what she lost in exchange for learning the truth? He starts mumbling go himself "i see, i see" then he says "im sorry" before sticking his hand inside her. He was likely speaking to the souls inside him and consulting a medical professional, then he said sorry because he was going to be using up a soul to heal izumi after rearranging her organs.

I think this is the best example of character expectation vs reality for Hohenheim; in the beginning we see him as uncaring and distant but in reality he shows his kindness and true depth of humanity by giving each person in the stone the time, attention and decency they deserve. One of the main reasons he is my favorite in this series

Remember back when Hoenheim was worried about letting the monster out if he held his children? That is because the half million souls that gave him immortality were given randomly, and some of those people were "not good parents" shall we say, and so when he wanted to hold Ed, was that his love for his child speaking, or was it egged on by someone who did not have a parental relationship with those kids? Or would it be too much for that soul to be there at that event? THAT is why Ho was afraid.

Father embodies the Seven Deadly Sins, he then made "children" for each. But hohenhiem embodies the Seven Virtues, humility, charity, chastity, kindness, temperance, patience and diligence. You can also see that these were passed on to Ed and Al.

So you can see why everyone in the country loves Bradley. I know he's the bad guy, and I'd still probably follow that man into battle. Biggest badass in Anime. In a world of Homunculi who just heal off any damage they take. He can't do that. So he's just like "Guess I have to never get hit."

Angela, here's a list of more FMA-related stuff you can watch after FMAB is over: - The FMAB bloopers - The 4 FMAB OAVs (extra episodes adding some lore) - The "4-koma theatre" funny ultra-shorts - "The Sacred Star of Milos" FMAB sort-of-spinoff movie, as it takes place "somewhere" within the FMAB timeline, the Elrics reaching a strange city in the west. (mid?) - The whole FMA 2003 series (51 episodes. Somewhat slower, darker and with a bit less coherent writing, but still an interesting "what if" story with its own merits. It was very acclaimed before FMAB came out. I'm still fond of it.) - "The conqueror of Shamballa" movie (adds a second ending to the 2003 series. Makes 0 sense without watching that series first). - FMA 2003 had a few OAVs too, although some of them are a bit strange. (And some have to be watched only after the Shamballa movie). - The three live action FMA movies. (Meh?) I hope you may react at least to some of them. And of course we would like an FMAB cliffhanger reactions montage! ^_^

I am so torn on the 2003 version. I kinda prefer its pacing and darker tone, but the difference in the story is waaaay weaker. Even though the dark ending somehow fits the story well. FMAB is simply so coherently written that you just can't argue with it.
@LegnaiaUnderground6 сағат бұрын
@@avaDD Well, if one would really want to start being nitpicking, it's possible to find various unclear plot points in FMAB, too (e.g. why doesn't Greeling fully transform in this episode, but will do it in a few ones? Wrath's sword did not seem capable of cutting his ultimate shield.). Of course, in general FMAB story is more coherent due to following more closely the manga, which was basically written by one person, instead of the 2003 anime which had multiple writers. But FMAB and even the manga are not "perfect" to a close inspection. However, I like all of them.

The homunculi actively discourage letting souls express individuality PRECISELY because their voices constantly wind up in the heads of the homunculus. For them it is easier if there are no voices at all and that the minds of these souls degenerate into silence from no longer being perceived as humans. Essentially these voices are forced into a state of learned helplessness from despair. Only someone with a strong will like Ling can resist that and force greed to acknowledge him as human, or in Bradley’s case regain control or in the case of Hoenheim, are allowed to let them speak at the potential cost of his sanity, which is a real danger. Imagine being immortal but having the possibility of losing all that benefit to immortality by becoming incurably insane.

And here we are, the Man who Ascended.... a flight of stairs among other things. See, most of the Sins are Ultimate this or that and here's Bradley's: He's the Ultimate Human, not the Ultimate Eye. It's not brought up in the story directly but it's hard not to see what's going on, especially as it happens after Father's declaration of becoming the perfect being. Bradley is weak... no, really. He's more human than monster as being Wrath is more of a side gig for the man. Which brings us to Greed, the OTHER human homunculus but this one is more monster than human. Greed has an identity unlike Wrath, one that sees itself as demonic. Obvious symbolism is still symbolism. So at this point of the story, we have the fallen angel/devil meeting the rising ape. Greed even starts at a higher position to nail the point in a little deeper. It has nothing to do with the Elrics, has everything to do with the story, isn't that weird yet awesome? BECAUSE it also parallels Father and Hohenheim, literally two side of the same coin, one who was fully human, one who was fully... not. Who became one yet two yet Legion. And then it gets complicated. Because of course it does.... still has nothing to do with the Elrics.

Keep this in mind, the writer of FMAB confirmed if Bradley was in his prime, the humans wouldn't stand a chance. Everything we see of him in this episode and after is all with him at old age past his prime. Utterly insane. I so wish we had a chance to see what he was like at his prime though. Also if I said it once I said it a million times, Briggs soldiers, especially Buccaneer, are just built different.
