I’ve recently retired from working in the public sector. We weren’t allowed to accept gifts of any material value (max £10), whilst we hear from this report that Sir Keir can collect gifts over 10,000 times that! I paid my NI all those years working hard to protect my retirement, but reports indicate we may face losing the state pension. After years of public sector pay freezes and nil annual increases in salary for many years (even before adjusting for inflation, so reducing value in real terms), I have been diligent saving for a pension, but the costs on my household utility bills and food are rising at twice the level of any pensions increases, yet I stand to be blocked from receiving winter fuel allowance. I voted Labour for only the 2nd time in my life so as to bring hope and change for our beloved country but, with all the reports flooding KZbin, it’s easy now to fear it was a wrong vote for a swifter, further downfall of Britain, its economy and its security. Our forefathers who built Britain would cringe.
