Honestly I've never favored either side. As a black guy many people under assume I'm a liberal...but I'm not. I used to think I was, but after some serious thought I sort of sit in the middle. I've been moderate on mostly everything. But what pissed me off was the media's blatant villianization of Trump and their complete disinterest in Sanders. I don't like Trump myself, but it's like EVERYONE is finding EVERYTHING to make him seem less human. And when Sanders was completely cheated out of the election by the DNC, nobody cared. Yet when Clinton does stupid shit and endangers national security...she gets off free and the media still talks her up like she's some sort of goddess with no flaws. It's not ok to bring up Clinton's stupid ass decisions in the past but apparently it's ok for the media to rag on Trump for weeks about a statement he said over a decade ago. Sure it was sexist but that's besides the point. And my main problem with the media now is their opinion towards us millennials. They constantly call us lazy, stupid, soft, and say that we have no idea what's going on. They believe that we should just sit down, shut up, and just let the old folks handle OUR future.
@Replica_Rabbit
@Replica_Rabbit 8 жыл бұрын
I think the problem is money, the main reason the media go after Trump is cause he famous and say stupid things. Hillary is a boring lady, next to Trump. That get a lot of people to watch there 24/7 news, "here what crazy thing Trump will say next". Instead of informing us on what matter, they too busy trying to fill up their hours. I'm sick of hearing Hillary e-mails or Trump being a monster, I want to know what they will do for the country. Instead of I'm better than him or I'm will be the greatness thing that will happen to this country. The only way I can see fixing the problem is to get money away from news, but the sadly next to impossible. Huh, I'm black too and no one really assumed was a liberal (I am). Someone assumed I was a republican, because I watch wrestling.-

My problems with Trump lies with all the things he has said and done. But I do not wish that he will be attacked, or killed, or assassinated as many other people would. But I can still call him out on doing really shady stuff. The same also goes for Hilary, and every single person on the planet.

I don't like Trump either, but I don't go so far as to call him evil because that's not what I believe. I think he's just an idiot, and I strongly disagree with his "plans" for us. But as a moderate I really hate Hillary too. I haven't been a voter for long (my first time being in 2012) but as things have gone down hill I've really become increasingly sick with politics. Though there were some things I disagreed with Bernie Sanders on, I think he would be a much better candidate, and if a Social Democrat were chosen on the left then the general election would almost certainly swing at least 70% or more in his favor. I genuinely believe that he is more popular and less hated (mostly for the fact there's very little dirt to have on him because he hasn't done anything) by ALL sides and honestly I think Trump would have difficulty figuring out what to say to him during debates. The absolute WORST I've ever heard ANYONE say about Bernie is claim that he's "just an old idiot who is out of touch with reality" more or less, and most of those people fail to show evidence to back up that argument. In the end though, with Bernie being gone, I've lost all hope. I honestly do believe that this election was already won by Clinton beforehand. She's the most obvious crime-lord ever, and people who stand up to her mysteriously end up dead a few years later under suspicious circumstances. She's a faceless liar whom I'm not sure if she even has a real political identity, or if it's more of a false identity made up to please whichever demographic is the most popular for her survival. If being a conservative republican like Ted Cruiz would have increased her chances of winning in this country, I'm sure she would have pretended to be one. She already owns this election and has for some time because she has the money and power to cheat her way through any election, hence why she won instead of Bernie. In the end I feel really conflicted on what to do with this election.... Personally I really don't want a conservative to be put into the supreme court right now (which will happen should Trump win) but I just feel so...terrible in knowing that the only way for me to contribute to that goal would be voting for Hillary. I just don't know what to do anymore.

Glynn Tarrant It's still going on to this day and it gives me anxiety that people will judge you by where you lean politically. I am independent like Enter and I always try my best to be a good person to everyone (except if they're an asshole). But whenever I try to be friendly to someone and tell them about some flaws that a politician has, I'll get bombarded with hate messages and people telling me more about the flaws of the politician they don't like in an angry and hostile way. I've seen people continually deny that left wing doesn't exist and that they'll say: "Left wing is bad eh? What are we going to hug you to death? Healthcare the shit out of you? Or maybe we'll give you so much freedom you'll explode? Yeah we're reeeeeallly bad". All is lost.

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. True. I actually found this series really funny since it describes my hometown to a T. No exaggeration, this show could be a documentary of my hometown. Last year a teacher (a Jewish teacher who's family fled here after surviving the Holocaust) was pelted with garbage after showing up to school during a student skip day that was part of a black lives matter rally. They assumed he was a white supremicist because he showed up to work during a black lives matter rally, a movement that protests persecution based on race... and they attacked a Jewish man. I'd say around 1/4 households here are almost exactly like the Goode Family :P

I won't talk about who I'm voting for, but I will say this to add to Mr. Enter's points: One of the most idiotic things anyone can do is make their enemies seem absolutely evil. Everyone has good and evil inside of them, as hard as that is to remember sometimes. The second you see a person as completely evil, the second you forget about their strengths and weaknesses. You can no longer defend against them. You can no longer target them where it hurts. You can no longer reason with them. And that is when you lose.

This video has suprisingly aged very well. It's only been getting worse each and every year since then. Back in 2016, I considered myself a part of the left and wanted Hilary to win. Now, I am an anarcho-capitalist and just want us as a species to discard government all together and switch to a stateless society with a laissez-faire free market economy as I have gotten disillusioned with politicians and governments in general.

The disgust usually comes from either fear or anger, though. I'd be hard-pressed to think of a reason why anyone would be disgusted by a group of people they don't even know, unless their disgust was based on something they don't understand (which is part of fear) or because they were taught to dislike it by others (which is usually based in anger).

I had a really cool uncle that I got along with really well when I was a kid. After I turned eighteen, things fell apart between me and him when I registered as an Independent voter. He was livid when he found out I wasn't a hardcore democrat like himself and the rest of the family. It was democrat or nothing to him, so since I chose differently, from that point on, to him I was nothing. To this day he has not said a word to me. The experience left me utterly disgusted with politics. I've since realised that it really doesn't matter which candidate "wins" the election, because "we the people" lose either way. Friends, family, neighbors, whole communities fracture and divide, and political opportunists swoop in and take advantage of us while we fight amongst ourselves. American society is so broken that even close family members will throw each other to the wolves for having different views. It's a horrifying disgrace to those who founded this nation and the people who have fought and died to defend the freedom and independence we once treasured.

Like, everyone submits an idea, a group of convenient officials organize said ideas according to topic and similarity, then, they take a few a few suggestions from each category and send out a bubble sheet for the people to vote with. It's a rough idea, but with done polishing, I think it could definately work better than our current system of shit.

Problem being sheer legal overload (Majority of the U.S. Congress doesn't actually look at most of the laws. They get sent to committee, where people who specialize in whatever topic the law concerns debate it out, giving it to the rest of Congress after they refine the law.), along with (at least in the U.S. Can't speak for other countries.) the desire to inure the public somewhat from lawmaking. I know it sounds weird, but the reason the aggregate public doesn't vote directly for laws is because there is such a thing as tyranny of the majority that needs to be prevented like any other tyranny.

After all, good deal of Republicans have also decided to go for Hillary Clinton, does that make these Republicans traders to the all evil wild creatures that should be shot down & torture! Most of the worlds problems stem from the fact that no one listens to understand anymore. They listen to respond, if they listen at all. Think about it when was the last time someone tried to explain something and the person that they were explaining to listened... and then said nothing, instead absorbing what they just heard? People used to have that respect for one another. People used to think about what was said for a long time before responding. You do that these days and people don't want to talk about that anymore because there's some shiney new topic to discuss, and they figure if you wanted to say something you should have said it when that topic was fresh. No one is allowed to digest information anymore. So we get people spouting off whatever bullshit comes to mind quickly and then forgetting about the topic because otherwise they don't get a voice. We get people listening to formulate a quick response, instead of listening to understand.

If they take it seriously or not, if they are actually absorbing what you say and are trying their damnedest to get it. And that too is a problem both sides have turned into jokes. Like my ex and I would have political discussion and he would discuss his side and I mine. We both would either end on a better understanding, sometime no understanding, and even a switching of ideas on some things, and that does happen. But you are right about discussion I just think it needs to happen face to face openly and calmly. OPENLY AND CALMLY being major key words.

One thing I will clarify though, is that while I am not the kind of person on the left Mr.Enter is talking about, I will say that most of the issues I had with Brexit was that it had its basis in fear, racism and covert nationalism. That is not to say everyone who voted to leave the EU was racist, but I find that there was far too strong a trend of racist attitudes, especially from far right parties like UKIP, who were basing their campaign to leave the EU on said attitudes. Considering how the overwhelming facts show that we were better in the EU, propaganda like "Take back control!" (with no clear indication of how that was supposed to be done) won the day. Oh and FYI, all the talk of border control and giving more money to the NHS was an outright lie. None of that was ever going to happen, and only now are the right wing politicians honest about it.

Independent is not the lesser of two evils. The Green Party wants to cut military spending which sadly means the only part of the military that would be effected are the retires because the government would never cut spending on the actual military (and they have a history of screwing the people who serve), and the Libertarians want to put a cap on Social Security so that you'd have to be 75 years old no exceptions and they seem to be in favor of just getting rid of it all together in the future. It's important to research what all the parties are all about. It's not the lesser of two evils, it's the lesser of four evils. Of course there will be people interested in Social Security reform, and people who are against the military and if these parties are for you, good for you. Just really look into their policies before you make a decision. Many times Politicians don't actually have your well-being in mind, they just want your vote. There is another Independent choice, Joe Exotic, but honestly I have no idea what he wants to do because he is not part of the main Independent parties and I can't find reliable sources that talk about his plans for presidency. He seems the be the wild card in the wild card.

SSofIreland I know she was. And I do my best to not let it creep into my behavior, or cause any biasing, but that doesn't mean I didn't for a negative reaction to a traumatic stimuli. But it's a bit hard when other people's behavior is actively harmful to the LGBT community by-in-large. I rally around people who have had similar experiences, as any survivor of a traumatic incident does, and deeply empathize with them over their trauma. Perhaps I/we tend to over-empathize, but it's for fear of our own existence, and a conditioned bias, brought about by conditioning, and not a moral or political view. I wasn't TAUGHT to hate XYZ group because people told me to, I naturally developed my own response to XYZ group out of previous hardships and first-hand, second-hand, and tertiary evidence. It is this abject rejection of the LGBT community's (my community's) primal survival instinct that has me siding against the right leaning, or any other group that might seek to take away our rights or lives. You might equate me to a single issue voter, but that issue is literally my entire existence as a person. And in honesty, I absolutely hate our current political system. it's broken, and awful, and I hate everyone's opinions of politics, including my own, as we're just led along by our noses, believing what they want us to believe. Counter-cultures are monetized and bled dry, and free thinking has become main-stream and monitored, but this self-indulgent "EVERYONE ELSE IS WRONG BUT ME AND I AM THE MESSIAH I UNDERSTAND POLITICS BETTER THAN ANYONE BECAUSE I READ REDDIT" mindset that all of us has needs to go. We are children screaming in the dark for salvation from the bullies who are just seeking solace themselves, and the adults are all dead or were never there to begin with. Sorry if I'm repeating myself and difficult to follow and rambling, even 10+ years later, this is still traumatic to speak of.

This was a really good video Mr. Enter. You hooked me right away with mentioning how there are family members who won't let you talk against a certain candidate (which is what my mom has been doing with Hilary) and then the rest of the video was just what I've been thinking and couldn't put into words. Thanks for this, it's nice to know I wasn't the only one thinking it.

You would have made a better point by giving examples of conservative media bias. By focusing only on Liberal bias, all you've done is encourage conservatives, while liberals would dismiss all your good points.

randombro89 Your first statement almost perfectly contradicts your second statement. So the following will solely be a response to your first statement: I disagree very strongly. For one, how the heck is sex a bad thing to promote? If people never had sex than everyone would die of old age without ever having children and we would die as a species. Also paying attention to media is entirely a choice. It would be one thing if some guy was following you around and shouting his political views at you. But you decide which media you watch, play, or listen to, let alone whether you do at all. Just because someone disagrees with you, doesn't mean they shouldn't be allowed to talk. If you really hate people who disagree with you that much, find a group of people who already share your views so you can have pointless conversations about how correct those views are. People obviously do like what the media is putting out cause they still eat it up. You can disagree with violence and you can disagree with sex, (the latter will mean you never have kids however.) but just because you disagree with something does not make it objectively wrong. Try to be less afraid of opposing opinions.

randombro89 Sorry, seriously sorry, that comment was initially meant for somebody else, but it glitched out and I had to reload the page and search through a now even denser comment section to find what I was trying to reply to originally. I replied to you after briefly glancing at your first statement and assuming it was the comment I was replying to originally because they start similarly. So, yeah. In regards to what you did say, I agree, in terms of news media.

I know this is a few years late but figure I’d give an opinion from a liberal, old-school feminist (someone who believes in all sexes being treated equally regardless of who they are), abrosexual (someone that is sexual orientation fluid and doesn’t have just one orientation), cis-gendered woman growing up in the conservative south and having been a victim of assault by a woman - and you have no idea how right you are. Reason I mentioned the things above is cause I’ve seen both the left and right at each other over, well, anything really. Way I see it is that the left is so damn focused on making things ‘better’ that they make current generations feel like they need to appease everyone, while the right can be so caught up in keep tradition that they can be easily manipulated by those claiming to be on their side. At the end of the day, all I see are two extremes fighting each other and everyone else getting the leftovers from it. I’ve been around those who believe that my sexuality doesn’t exist because ‘you’re either gay or not’, I’ve been around conservative family members who say I’m going to hell or into nothing because I’m no longer Catholic but spiritual, I’ve had both sides get on me about gun control (basically just make it harder to get military-grade weapons by getting a license or finding some form of a middle-ground - I think getting rid of them won’t solve the problem), I try to report my assault and no one would believe me because ‘it never happens between two women’ (and sadly, it’s only come to attention now that even if someone is on the LGBT spectrum, they can still be capable of being just as abusive as anyone) and I’ve also heard my parents arguing over how the presidency of the previous 4 years and how I wasn’t allowed to disagree with one parent because they would be easily upset. I do believe tradition helps and are still needed, but change is also needed and can be helpful; but that also means that we can’t just live in a world/country where it’s one way or no way, and maybe it’s dumb to be too optimistic, but perhaps as more people are questioning more of the intentions of both sides and what their beliefs and political sides actually are, there might be more of a change or a new way to change and being conservative. Only time will tell.

Being objective isn't the same thing as being neutral. If there's a debate, and one side says 2+2=5 while the other says 2+2=4, being objective leads us to say that one side is wrong and the other correct, and it leads us to the only logical choice for which side should have control of the math department. "Biased" and "Takes a side I wouldn't take" aren't the same thing. That's not what bias means. Although we may manage to reduce our bias, we can't eliminate it completely. We're all biased, even we don't want to be. I'm biased, and so are you. Stop using "biased" to refer to people who take a side, and "objective" to refer to people who agree with you. I understand if you criticize people's support for a candidate, or the way they support them, though.
