Hey Tyler I've been doing a fair bit of induction tubing this last few months and I have just become a huge fan of the pipe command. I never used it up until now. One sketch, create pipe and editable thickness etc. Very quick. It does away with the need for the extruder sweep cut and extrude.

Hi Tyler, Nice video. I use them to exercise / practice It's always interesting to see different approaches; Let me share mine; First I created a list of parameters [e.g. pipe-diameter, wall-thickness, angle of the bend, short_leg_length, long_leg_length etc.]. Next starting at the origin, I created a vertical line, a bend / arc and a line at 90deg parallel to X-axis. I gave these sections the dimensions from the param-list. Next I draw a circle in a square on the 'ground-plane' and use the param-list again for the wall thickness, flange dimensions. Now I do a sweep selecting the circle and the line as a guide. I then 'shell' the resulting solid using the wall-thickness-param I draw one hole > circular pattern > extrude the flange. Next time [when I actually need a pipe like this] all I need to do is change the parameters in the list & 'Bob is your uncle'. Time for an espresso. Thnx

Love it! Sometimes I think the beginner community would be overwhelmed if I show parameters every time :). Not sure....But, I like your approach!

@@TylerBeckofTECHESPRESSO I see where you're coming from. However... when I first 'discovered' param. features, for me drawing changed into DESIGN. The other even more important aspect: flexibility. When 'prototyping' [in my case: tinkering & trying to make things work] making changes quickly & easily became THE thing! Most people that are starting out with F360 will quickly grasp the potential of parameters. Thanks again. Keep up the good work! Willem

Terrific video. Curious if it’s necessary to overextend the original sweep and then cut it back or if you could’ve just done the sweep right to the center of the arc and extruded without having to cut anything? The cut approach seems a little kludgy to me.

Thank you Tyler! I’ve committed to designing every day this month, starting with vacuum ports for my shop equipment. Plane Along Path is my new favorite tool! Any tips on printing tubes and using as little support as possible? Slicing curves for printing?

Would it be feasible to loft the bend between two circles? Would that get around issue of the end of the bed and not being perpendicular?
@TylerBeckofTECHESPRESSO
@TylerBeckofTECHESPRESSO 2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. The loft can controlled with a guide curve or center line.
