This video deserves so much more attention! Thank you for the clean and well thought out presentation. This may very well be the best Fusion tutorial I have seen yet. Bravo! Now to watch the follow up, "How to use with a part" video. Nice

OUTSTANDING VIDEO! It took me a while just to get the vise into Fusion. I figured out I had to "extract all" from the zip file from Kurt. One of the socket head screws is off center in the hole ,and the head is above the surface. The file must have gotten corrupted. Not a big deal, but I don't make parts like that, so it bugs me. I might start over and make another vise to see how far I can get from memory. I learned a lot from this video! This is exactly what I wanted to learn Fusion for, at 71 years old. I got everything working perfectly! I can't wait to get a part in the vise and simulate milling. It's funny to me that I have machined tons of casting and have made many things like the Kurt vise from solid steel, for the past 55 years and now I can make one with one finger on a computer! Haha Please keep making videos and thank you so much for teaching me the new world.

How come your channel doesn't have more subscribers and the videos more views? I'm really curious because you are by far one of the best channels on Fusion 360. It's like you're shadow banned or something?? 🤔 Good job and keep it up!

Thanks so much for your encouragement! In reality I am grateful to be at the point we are at. Our first video was released just over a year ago, and we are now at 8000 subs. To help get our tutorials out there, please consider sharing and comment on our other tutorials too. Thanks again!

Thanks for making this! Great video and my first parametized part. 1 question though... could this be done to hold two parts as well? I.e., op10 (stock) and op20 (continue rest machining) on one vice, op30 etc. on other vices.

Thanks for your comment! Absolutely, very easy to do. You should watch one of our follow-up videos to see the basics of how to implement the vise in your CAM workspace: Fusion 360 - Use Parametric Vise with Part Tutorial - Metal CAM #2 (2023) kzbin.info/www/bejne/rmmVg56jeLJkZrs

Excellent stuff. 2 questions, 1) can I email you to get an idea of what your cost is for modeling a parametric vise? 2) will you be doing a video on how to utilize this vise set up with importing stock and the part?

Thanks for your comment and questions! 1) Yes, you can find my email in the channel description. 2) Yes! Stayed tuned… will be out in the near future. Thanks for your support.

When I use the joint to place the stock as you instruct, the position manipulator is upside down, so when I enter the "parallel height" into the z position field, the stock drops negative Z and into the vise. What could I be doing wrong?
@learnitalready8 ай бұрын
Thanks for reaching out. Good job with the lesson so far. No worries about the value, just enter a negative value. Sometimes the joint orientation isn’t correct and can’t be easily fixed, so you’ll have to insert a negative value instead. Please let us know if that works.

How do you rotate the 3d view so easily?

Hello! Thanks for the question. I use the SpaceMouse Pro by 3D Connexion. I’ve been 3D modeling for a very long time and found the investment worth it. I’ve attached a link to the end of this message. Hope you found the video beneficial. May I ask, were you able to make your own parametric vise yet, or are you planning to? If so, which vise will you do? Thanks again for your question. Hope these videos are useful to you. If you have a specific issue you’re facing, please don’t hesitate to ask on this channel. All the best! 3dconnexion.com/us/product/spacemouse-pro/

On the top left of your canvas, in your browser, you’ll see Document Settings. Expand that, and hover over the units. A little icon will appear. Click on that and then a dialogue window will open where you can change the active units.

For some reason, my parts are not in a subassembly. I watched another older video on this same subject (Mechanical Advantage) and the browser was much different as well. Is that just due to the evolution of the software?

Hello! Great question. Yes, the User Interface has changed quite a bit over the years.

@@learnitalreadyI ran into another problem with the parallels, where I couldn’t select create new component, only new bodies. Did I do something wrong? Or what do I need to change?
@learnitalready5 ай бұрын
@@caseyquillen6073 You probably accidentally created New Bodies first and then went back to that same tool in your timeline. When you do so, the option for New Component disappears. You will need to delete your parallels and model them again. Try and create your Parallels component first, activate that component, and then build your model within that component.
