@@KristianLaholm I actually attempted to use the web feature also. My plan was to make ribs using the web feature and then use them as a cutting tool. I just couldn't make it work!

That compute adjust option in the patterns is clever, I don't recall even messing with those if ever. Would love to see more content of that.

This actually make sense. If the only constrain between line and circle is tangent, parallel lines cannot follow the same rules. But if you give it a command as "calculate length yourself based on start to end" it works well, and the patterns are no longer constrained by the tangent. Very smart!

Thank you for the videos! I just had a question regarding slot cutting on a CNC plasma table. I can draw the slots no problem but when I try uploading the prgram in my software, the arches of the slots are on the opposite side of the sheet.

has this changed in more recent versions? I get "R Pattern 2" error, and Compute , No Fillet edge found, and 2 of the slots are missing their end fillets. It shows them up until finalising/ending the edit on the Pattern . (It works fine when doing the pattern with just the cut extrusion, and no fillets. Edit: solved one problem but introduced another - model in the fillet, and instead of using "Features" for the pattern, use 'faces' and select all the faces. No failure, but it stops respecting the bounding surface

Any way to do that with the RULED FILLET option? A very interesting function but it's hard to figure out how it truly works

Having had a look around in the fillet command, this seems like a very interesting option. Will need to explore further on this. I don't recall seeing any videos on ruled fillets so far......

I was just playing around with the ruled fillet option to achieve the full round fillets in one step for all the rectangular cuts........and it works! Looks like I will need to do a follow up. Thank you for this suggestion. Will definitely credit you!

7:44 It kind of works but also it doesn't work for me. My slots are at angle but when i do a pattern, it also cuts outside the the shape defined before. IDK, this might work only for circle or square shapes but not for custom shapes.

so it seems the pattern command respects the "to object" constraint of the extrude, but not the constraints in a sketch.

It does seem like the constraints don't get carried over during patterning. Having an adjust compute option in a sketch environment might be useful for this.

Just get to the point. People don't watch fusion 360 tutorials for fun, they watch them to learn something. The shorter the video is, the better.

Why do you feel the need to show me 27 ways that do not work? If this is truly a school, show us the method that works without throwing all the confusing non-working data at us students.

In this case, most users would start approaching this with a top down extruded cut. I felt that it would be beneficial to know the limitations and problems involved in this approach before moving on to the recommended solution. In my videos, I would often approach a problem in different ways so that viewers can get the full picture and understand how I arrive at a certain solution. In any case, I was clear in stating that viewers have the option of skipping to the solution with the time stamp.

Everyone appreciates different ways of learning. I find his videos to be the cleanest and most direct to the point on all of KZbin. If he didn’t show me the non functional approaches I would waste time trying them myself. Please keep doing what you’re doing, and thanks for another great video!

All that "non-working data" combined with the "the method that works" is what you will, later in life, call "experience". Eventually, you may find it is no longer "confusing", but "useful".

So that you understand how the software "thinks". It's an excellent way to teach. What he did was show common ways people would normally approach this problem, and explain why it doesn't work.
