Completely agree. A car stopping from 70mph in X feet vs Y feet doesn’t tell me what Sarah communicates with “it stops good” and her genuine facial expression. It made me laugh, but more importantly, I knew viscerally what she meant. There’s a time for jargon and stats, and there’s a time for human reaction. Sarah, you need to get someone to loan you their Tesla. I’d love to see your reaction. Visceral speed with no sound, no gear changes... surreal and alien, yet intoxicating. As a true gear head, i’m wondering how it would match up with your expectations and preconceptions.

I have this car and I think you are the only person that I have seen do a review that’s very fair on this car. I think so many people forget it’s a GT car. The ride is superb. it’s not expensive to maintain at all in comparison. People hear it’s a v8 and has almost 500hp and expect more sport. It can feel sporty and the chassis can def handle way more power. I had Aston Martin previous to this car and no one talks about maintenance cost. There is no maintenance in this car. My vantage (drive it a lot or not) cost 10k a year to maintain. It has to be maintained and serviced weather you are driving it or not. At 40k miles my clutch went out etc. the engine needed to be synced continuously. Your payments and insurance brakes tires and a battery is all you will have to do to this car for 100k plus miles. I had my vantage for 5 years and out approx 10k cruising miles on it a year. And my maintenance cost were more than Half of the price of the car. Over 78k. For 55k miles. Just FYI most Aston Martin owners on average only drive 2k miles or less a year. Aston martin provides no warranty. You MUST pay for it and it ONLY covers maintenance! You can choose 12-24 months when brand new but most drivers only put 2k miles on per year so if u get up in miles they won’t offer you a renewal To purchase a warranty since it’s based on age and when where u purchased your car. The max out of pocket is the value of the car. You can get a warranty up to 10 years but u can’t have more than 2k miles per year or you won’t be offered a warranty. What most people consider maintenance will be repairs on an Aston Martin. I lost money in the depreciation also. This will hold its value. Ironic to what most people would expect. I also had a Maserati gran tourismo. It was even more needy than my Aston Martin. My local Maserati dealer closed due to lack of sales so I had to take the car to Ferrari for maintenance and repairs. I’m sure that did not help cost.

Refreshing review, I own a 2018 LC and agree its about the experience as this car has by far been my favorite car in a long line of powerful vehicles. My last was a 2016 CTS V which was a 640hp sledgehammer but only car enthusiast even knew what I was driving. Every stop I make in the LC sparks curious conversation from men women and children, all positive thus far! Lexus in my opinion created a vehicle that puts you in the center of a moving experience whether you want to be speed racer, James Bond or the chauffeur driving Ms Daisy, this car does it all. Again cool review and thanks for showing me how to shift from Manual to drive and back to manual on the fly never quite figured that out until you illustrated it.

Awesome review, Sarah. You make me smile every time, and laugh quite often, all the while presenting a world class review. Thanks! Going back to the days when I sold Lexus, it was explained to me why Lexus sport cars had such small, apparently useless, rear seats. In Japan all 2 door cars are declared sports cars, by the insurance companies and are thus charged a MUCH higher rate than 4 doors. UNLESS they have a back seat. If a 2 door car has a back seat, the monthly insurance rate drops significantly. So, your grocery bags get a nice place to sit back there while your monthly insurance bill is more comfortable as well.

I've frequently said I would have been plenty happy if the new Supra had been based on the current Lexus platforms with 2 a lot of weight stripped out and the badass V8 engines from Lexus, possibly with a turbo. Damn that thing sounds great. Also may be of interest to you that there are rumors Toyota will use the new Mazda I6 engine and shared Mazda platform for the next RC and to create a car between the RC and LC. Personally I'm hyped for the Mazda I6 either way. Filming location was awesome for this car. Such a fun contrast. The feeling of euphoria on your face right before the braking segment was funny. Also probably your hardest braking to date. I know the automatic is superior anyways, but if they offered this car with a manual and a bit lighter weight, possibly with rear seat delete, it would be pretty dream car status. Excellent review. Lexus should give you one. The car suits you!

The composite door panel component is definitely not fiber glass. It's just not a woven carbon fiber fabric. It's a very similar material to any of the companies marketing "forged" carbon. Think Calloway golf clubs, Lambo Sesto Elemento tub, that sort of stuff. Fiber glass, unless coated in another material, will usually be some what clear in the resin that is wetting it out. Coated meaning similar to when you see "silver" or some other dyed carbon fabrics. So since you can clearly see the fibers and it is charcoal in color, it is likely the non-woven carbon fiber pre-preg material. I would be willing to bet there's likely more carbon content in that door panel than the roof. On woven fabric products, it's a common practice to only use the carbon weave in the top layers as you can't see past the decorative layer. Unless it's a stress critical component, "carbon" stuff on cars is generally only carbon on the surface. Since that non-woven product flows when they mold it, you can't mix in the fiber glass or it could show up on the decorative surface. *quotation marks not for emphasis, but meant as sarcasm to crappy marketing terms*

Hey, work on the audio quality. That's my only criticism. Your footage is disparately excellent next to the audio! And you have a lot of good things to say and a good screen presence. Good work! I love the LC500. Best taillights in the biz. If you want to make these reviews more buyer-friendly, you can maybe comment on the price of an option, whether it makes sense on the car. On this car, the carbon sport package is a little spendy at $7000, $3000 over the glass sport package which (a $4000 option that includes the LSD which is a necessity). The carbon fiber-composite roof is meme status on a car as heavy as this one. It's a luxury midlife crisis grand tourer that old guys will drive to their vacation houses in Key West. Why tart it up? Then again, the Mark Levinson audio system is significantly better and seems a must on a car that's already well over 100k after tax and title. I don't think the $10k carbon perf package makes sense on this car either. You can maybe add a short slide showing the options and MSRP when you show other stats? Good luck and good work!

100% correct! Mustangs may be faster BUT they aren't this car!

Great video! Your exactly right the new supra should have been based off of the lc500 the same way the mark iv was based from the sc300. Even if it's a v8 it's a Toyota primarily built v8 instead of taking a BMW and putting a Toyota badge on it.

They only used the rear suspension subframe from the Z30 soarer for the JZA80 Supra

Should have been! It’s weird that they had to partner with BMW when they already had it in their parts bin. If that LC500 gets 2.5 beans what gets 5 beans?

I know right!! It really doesn't make sense if they already had beastly powerplants at their disposal. I guess Toyota didn't want to cannibalize Lexus even though they are supposedly bringing "Toyota performance to the masses".

All it would have needed would be a massive diet and a manual transmission option.

The new Supra is made in Austria. You can't get anymore JDM than that. 😕

You forgot to mention a feature of that car. It supports voice command . When you yell "Ouchhhh !!!" , the seat did automatically backed off a little to relieve your knees.
