LEXUS LC500 at beginning had 477HP and after software updates currently has 464HP. I think that this engine has vast power and potential for eventually tuned cars.

Love when people say that because it shows a lot of % of people don’t know why that use to happen but don’t anymore (as often) mustangs use to have live axle which wasn’t the best for those situations. Most car companies didn’t make powerful solid axle rearwheel drive cars. But now for a long time ford has been using irs. With that comes better handling and control. Now it’s just driver error and the fact that there are more 8 sec 1/4 mile 900-1100whp mustangs out there than any other car in the world. Manuals require a learning curve that takes weeks or months to get in perfect tune with the car, in order to shift quick and smooth on demand. And every manual is different from one another.

Maybe so, but that mustang has an mt82 transmission and it’s the worst transmission you can get in a mustang. The 10 speed auto would have wrecked the LC500. Not sure if these mustangs are slower in Europe, but even the 10 speed mustang on car wow hasn’t been putting out the best numbers. They will do the quarter mile in high 11’s and trap 118-121. Like an m3/M4

It's built by the same team who manufactured the LFA, in the same Motomachi plant as the LFA. It's a very comfortable car that looks sleek, and goes pretty good when you put the foot to the floor. Never said it was a supercar, becasue it's not. It's a balanced and finely tuned machine.

Yanni just brake and floored it for the launch, but he should've just gave it about 1/2 throttle just to bring the rpm up to torque converter stall speed until actual start. Since he floored it before the actual launch, the power of engine overcame the rear brakes, thus the spin before the launch, which the traction control kicks in also. Knowing lexus, it kicks in and cut engine power for 1 to 2 seconds.

@@ventmg Because the Lexus has no launch-mode. So you need to launch it like the Mustang with ~1/4-1/2 gas. Otherwise the wheels lock up because it the torque overpowered the rear-brakes which caused traction-control to kick in and caused the Lexus to cut power. In the rolling race it was visible that both cars are basically equal outside their transmission & launch.

Damn, the difference between the 10 speed mustang and manual is massive. It would be really interesting to see the 10 speed mustang vs the Lexus. You can see the mustang pull on the Lexus until Matt needs to shift, then he starts falling behind.

Yes the problem is that even if the shifter in mustang is a short throw one, you still need some skills to shift it faster. Moreover the Bullitt only comes in manual.

I’ve owned several F cars and driven a couple of LC500 V8s. Induction is awesome, quality fantastic but the lack of torque is frustrating (and that includes the ISF, RCF, GSF and the LC)

It’s in these conditions that the Lexus 5.0 V8s fail. In, a GT car, for me, I want it to dish out effortless A to B ability. Lexus are obsessed with the these cars getting into the highest possible gear as soon as possible, so making mediocre effortless progress is hampered.

Should’ve used the mustang with the 10speed that thing is amazing. Now days if you want to go fast with a mustang you have to get the 10r80 10apeed. There is tons of guys running in the 8s In the 1/4 mile with that transmission and stock sealed motor with just power adders . He should’ve compared 10speed on 10speed. Manual is just to slow.
