Those tail lights are what's called an "infinity mirror". The outer surface is a one way glass, or half mirror, that reflects about half of the light back into the housing. The deepest part of the housing is a full mirror. What this does is bounce the light back and forth, each bounce letting some of the light escape...effectively making a "tunnel", that looks much deeper than it really is, fading into the distance inside the tail light It's a cool effect that I first saw in Spock's wall mirror that hung in his quarters on the original Star Trek series. They're really easy to make, now, with battery-powered LED strip lights You can put bits of stuff inside to get all kinds of effects! I never thought of car tail lights...you could get really tricky with a twist on an amber sequential turn signal and dual-brightness stop/tail light. {adding to mile-long someday build list}}

Tip of the day : When you use a Lexus and Toyota's traction off button, you need to hold it for 3-5 seconds and then it will actually turn off. If you just press it like she did, it will turn back on in 5 seconds. So she technically launched with traction control still on.
