The first vessel looks like the new Canadian Offshore Arctic Patrol Ship, but with more teeth and a possible ASW role. Fascinating modular mission bay concepts.

@@nobodyjustme7481 you're absolutely right, the Canadian ship was a modified Norwegian design. Regarding their future Baltic needs, the Danes would look good with the FREM if they could build it locally. Korean offerings are also very interesting.

@@captivatethemFREMM is the best western frigate, no doubt about that. That's why US navy and Indonesian navy ordered FREMM. But Korean, um.. their current submarines is disappointing, their current LHD Dokdo class also disappointing, they still struggling with corruption inside their government. So I'm not really sure about their future frigates or corvettes. I would only recommend from Japanese. Like Mogami class frigate. Zero defect, advance tech, but literally half price than FREMM. Not to mention they have zero defect on their Izumo Class destroyer. Japanese now is a mad max country after US allows them to expand their military power. They even able to built 5th gen fighter jet, and now they are developing 6th gen fighter jet with the US.

The new multirole corvette is replacing the Diana class (launched 2006-2007). 6 ships are planed but only 5 billion dkk is in the total budget for now. 7.5 billion is more realistic. 4 Thetis class arctic corvettes (launched 1989-1991) are long overdue for replacement, but this may be pushed another 10 years. Likely it will be with a more capable replacement in a fregat size such as the 4 Finnish Pohjanmaa class which cost about 10 billion total. 2 Absalon class ASW fregates (launched 2004) will likely be about the same size as now, but with updated weapon/sensor technology and therefore much more expensive. 3 Iver Heuitfeld class airdefence fregats (launched 2010) is equiped with a 32 cell VLS. Expect the same or more in its replacement and perhabs to carry even superzonic missiles. 32 smaller vessels of marinehjemmeværnet (launched 1992/2003-2011) are also to be replaced perhabs with Baltic Workboats patrol class type vessels. That would total about 1 billion dkk. Supposely there is 40 billion dkk in the budget for the listed vessels. There seems to be a political will to reintroduce submarines in the Danish navy again. 3 type 212CD or A-26 would cost upwards 21 billion dkk with likely launch in 2036-2038.

@@jesperlykkeberg7438 Our Swedish brothers and sisters have had a very different mission for the last 50 years. They've traditionally not joined NATO/US-led operations out in the wider world, but have focused on defending their homeland and possibly completely on their own. Their navy has been perfectly adapted to their task. One could ask if the Danish navy has managed the same, given the scramble to build more boats for the Baltic. That said, I utterly agree that the Scandinavian region should integrate their armed forces, now that all are (or will be) in NATO ... in the same way we are seeing France, Germany and the Benelux region does.

@@heinedenmark These ships are for SAR (search and rescue), policing the national waters, as well as helping with a number of other secondary roles in the maritime enviroment. They are not warships in the classic sense (as of the current design specifications). These ships are in the line of the older cutters. Slow ships that does important jobs in the civilian aspect of the navy. What Anders has talked about, is the re-introduction of a small warship, the Swedish corvettes are simple examples, but these will fulfill an entirely different role. It is not an "one or the other" concept, but an actual addition to the navy. I know this, because I have been involved with Anders, writing about the needs for one of his projects on the defence academy.

US navy is old, very old, I mean most of the ships US have are old. Yes, some ships are upgraded in some cases and new carriers like Gerald Ford are build, but it is still in testing phase it so advanced. @@heinedenmark 127mm is good, US and Italian glide and guided round are coming on line so that is good but I don’t understand why just one turret and just a single gun in the turret. You don’t need any more than 4 guns in two twin turrets, one extreme forward and one extreme aft. With just one turret and single gun, the ship is not able to defend itself from air attack and swarm attacks by missile boats and loitering munitions. This is not a warship. The Chinese coast guard and fishing fleets have more weapons systems aboard than these ships will. They’re herbivores.
