Is the leash plug bit different from the other 2 bits? Wondering if you could use a fin box bit for the leash plug.

Ya, it’s actually a totally different bit designed to perfectly cut the leash plug, different dimensions than the fin boxes. If your handy you could use just a normal 1/4th inch router bit and make a jig to cut out the fin boxes and the leash plug, just would have to make a jig to cut the shallow flange and then a jug to cut the deeper seating box, a lot cheaper than buying futures kits, would be fine if your just doing a couple of boards a year. But if your doing very many it is way more convenient and they come out a lot cleaner with the futures one pass. Hope this helps!

I just got a new Aipa Big Boy Sting. It has 4 Futures and one standard center. I purchased a 7" center fin with two side bites and also some Futures Son of Cobra Twin fins. I wanted to use the side bites as both a 2 plus 1 but also as trailers for the twins but they only fit in the front two boxes. They were tight in those so I sanded them down to fit. Still, they wont fit in the back two boxes. It's too tight. I don't want to sand them down anymore because they would be too lose in the front boxes. What's the best way to make room in the rear boxes?

Very cool board btw!! When a board is glassed sometimes the fiberglass will pinch a fin box making it hard to slot in a fin box. Sanding the sides of a fin slightly will help it slip into the box. Sounds like you have already done this, the other thing to check is if the fin box is the right depth. Make sure you are not trying to pop a 3/4th inch fin into a 1/2inch fin box

@@RockandSeaGarageBoardShop I'm soo glad we talked. I didn't realize the rear quad boxes were different. I took some poly rear quads off my groveler and they fit. The True Ames fins that I got were 3/4" and only work for 2 plus 1 set ups. Now I'm back to the shop to return and shop for some small rear quads. Thanks!
