The main varieties such as Fuyu are self pollinating. Others will need two different varieties to set fruit.

I have tried the not astringent ones when they are crunchy like an apple. Fair enough. But there is nothing, NOTHING like a very gooey jelly soft Persimmon. Each to their own I guess.

I prefer the gooey soft variety too. I've lost two of them to root rot but will try again.

persimmon season is April-June but I can say they both taste the same. Jiro is larger.

Hi, I want to buy and plant a persimmon tree, variety Jiro, and I have some questions: 1. Can their height & spread be kept under control? Meaning to not be taller than 2-2.5 meters. (I understood from Google that its maturity maximum height is 5 meters) 2. Are they self-pollination trees, or they need a pair? Thank you.

1. Jiro is semi dwarf, mine is 2 meters after 6 years. 2. Self pollinating.
