Nice shooting mate, I've always said the mavericks are capable of reaching far distances, even at windy conditions. Awesome 👌🏼 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Subed to your channel ✌🏼

Thanks buddy appreciate you checking out the video, yes I think the Maverick is more than capable and is just as capable as any Fx impact mlk 3 to be honest, even if they do have all the bells an whistles lol, it comes down to the shooter and how they set it up and how they get the gun to shoot the results that work for them, I have also just subscribed to your channel too 😁👍

Hey guys , I just want to apologise for the audio quality in this video , hope it does not ruin your viewing pleasure too much and will try to deliver better audio in my next video cheers G.

Great video matey...nice to see the rig being stretched and some fun shooting had! For an air rifle (even FAC) a 3" group at 200m in those windy conditions is some going...I would be most interested to see a rig group better. Having said that this is a bit of fun range time so does it matter? not really, your not shooting for the pot or competition...just seeing what you and the rig can do on the day and the rig did well...your still a tart of course :) hahaha Great content buddy!

Hahaha thanks buddy hell yeah it’s certainly challenging in windy conditions plus I’m shooting on a truck bonnet although yes I’m using some shooting bags to help but that’s what I use when hunting so I wanted to keep it the same way I shoot out in the field , so I not going to be hard on myself with that group lol… cheers you saucy old trollop 👍😆

Excellent video did you ever get your barrel tensioner from Earnest Rowe?
@GianniG552 жыл бұрын
Hi Glen ,and thanks for checking out the video, no I don’t use the tensioner from Ernest I don’t even use any o-rings or carbon fibre liner , I swapped out the Fx barrel sleeve for the thicker stainless steel barrel sleeve that was shown on Air Bucks video channel, the only other mod I have is a plastic washer placed at the back of the shroud to take up the gap between the shroud and block the thickness was sanded down so that when I tighten up the shroud it butts up to the washer giving a firmish stop but not to tightly so that the barrel does not walk out of it’s housing , as for the slugs I use the Zan 35g I do wash and re-lube them with Napier pellet lube that’s pretty much it the rest comes down to tuning, cheers G.

@GianniG Well you have given me food for thought I think I might follow your idea much cheaper and your results are truly inspiring thanks for your reply

Good to see, what FPE was the gun set at?, you might try the Zan 30grn, I use this combination with my .25 FAC Maverick that is @ 60 fpe @1050 fps for my vermin control work. Quite remarkable results day or night.
@GianniG552 жыл бұрын
Hi , when I first got the gun i was just trying pellets but then started to test slugs and after a lot of testing and ammo wasting I finally settled with Zan and I enjoy using them , I even now wash them removing the tiny lead particles usually found inside the hollow points and also removing the dry lube and then relubing them with Napier power lube and they seem to work great , also with the regs set at 170bar at the front and 137bar at the rear with the internal hammer set at around one and a bit rotation from zero and the power wheel on number 7 it is shooting relaxed but still able to shoot a 35g at nearly a 1000fps followed by some good kinetic energy seems to get the job done , also not had much trouble with trajectory although I’m still learning and practicing my wind corrections for longer range distances like 190-200 yards I’m happy with the results so far , hopefully things won’t get to weird in the winter time due to temperature and pressure issues.

Have you or has anyone else that you know shot the FX Maverick compact at 200 yards? Just wondering how it would do with the short barrel on it.
@GianniG5510 ай бұрын
I myself haven’t tried it with a short barrel but I would guess if you can get a slug stable enough it would get there quite well.

I have a Maverick 25. built-in power kit with hammer 15 g and heavy slug liner. I want to shoot slugs from 36 grains, so I'm asking how much I should set the first and how much the second regulator.
@GianniG552 жыл бұрын
Hi , it’s not a straightforward answer I’m afraid because things change from how the gun was setup at the factory, starting with the power kit and heavier hammer this can change how the power wheel behaves , so you will have to see if the numbers on the power wheel go up in sequence for example power level 1 being low power and power level 7 being high power , I say this because when we tried a heavier hammer Weight the power wheel settings were all over the place and we never tried the power kit as this wasn’t available at the time , so like I said you have to figure out which power setting is the highest on your power wheel and use that for max power, then with the front reg you could start with 165 bar and then set the rear reg to 130 , I would also personally start with the small hammer screw wound all the way IN and then start to wind out at first with half a turn and see how much it increases the speed if it’s not much then another half turn until you start to see power increase then use quarter down to 1/8th turns to fine adjust , then make sure you fire the shots over a chronograph to see how fast the slugs are shooting , personally I would try to aim for at least 950fps , make sure to shoot at least 3-4 shots to allow the reg to settle, if they are well below the speed you want then once you have slowly worked the hammer outwards say 2.5 -3 turns then will need to slightly increase the front reg just a tiny bit and increase the rear reg a tiny bit say like 2-3 bars at a time, because remember once you open the back reg to something like 155 -160 or more your shot count will go down dramatically so bare that in mind ! , at the moment I had to retune my rifle and I settled with something like 165 front reg and 135 on the rear reg with my 35g slugs at around 975fps which gives me 3 magazines or 50 shots without dropping off the reg or at least very very close to it 1 or 2 shots won’t hurt if you drop but don’t go below that , hope this helps , I know it’s a long ass answer but you can’t expect me to answer in one sentence, cheers G.

Can kindly share the barrel length n reg settings
@GianniG552 жыл бұрын
Hi . My barrel length is 700mm the front reg is set at 170bar and the rear reg set to 137bar , my hammer spring is only about 3/4 turn out from zero , so I have only a little hammer so it closes the valve quickly and refill’s within about 3 seconds giving me 77 foot pounds of energy with the Zan 35g slug , but these are the settings for my rifle you would have to play around with your own tune to see what works best for your setup, cheers G.

You got to get those harmonics under control mate. At 200 yards you should really be able to keep them under 2inches with that platform. Here’s some the zan slugs plus speed that will get get close, but you’ll still have to do some fine tuning. 33g 970fps 37g 990-1005fps 41g 942-950fps Nsa 33.5 1055fps (crazy I know!) 36g 977fps 43.5 930fps 🍻
@GianniG552 жыл бұрын
Hi , the speeds I’m shooting the 35g Zans is 996fps and the extreme spread was good so I’m not sure how much more I can improve the harmonics , but if your groups are under 2 inches at 200 that’s very good you should definitely do a video showing how tight you can keep the group in windy conditions should make for a good video cheers G 👍
