FX’s Shōgun x Nobu Hotels & Restaurants: A Conversation with Hiroyuki Sanada and Chef Nobu Matsuhisa

FX and Nobu Hotels and Restaurants have joined forces for a first-of-its kind collaboration honoring Japanese art and culture in celebration of the new, 10-episode Limited Series FX’s Shōgun. The collaboration will feature unique experiences inspired by the series at five Nobu locations across the U.S. for two weeks leading to the series premiere on 2/27.
Old friends, Chef Nobu Matsuhisa and FX’s Shōgun producer and actor Hiroyuki Sanada, get together at Nobu Los Angeles to celebrate the exciting collaboration and discuss how the series’ modern take on a classic tale stays authentic to Japanese culture and resonates with fans today.

I noticed his demeanor. He knows his culture. Just by the way he's eating the sushi the chef gave him. I have similar traits in my culture. He's Japanese, proud, and knowledgeful. And there's much honor in that.

Chef Nobu is right....I think Shogun is going to be really really great and something special. I grew up with the 80's Shogun and it was good for its time. Yes I've been a big fan since The Last Samurai too so it's amazing seeing these veteran actors lifting their game with Hiroyuki Sanada recently in John Wick 4 and now levelling up to the leading role in FX Shōgun & Producer aswell as Ken Watanabe acting in & producing for Tokyo Vice series 2 also out right now. I hope to see more from Ayumi Tanida and the other Japanese actors in Tokyo Vice.
