Just bought one of these as my first bike. I love almost everything about it. Super easy to learn on. I got comfortable on it in two days. I love everything other than the mirrors. I can’t see much behind me. But I’m also fat. So there’s that.

I've had this bike for 11 years. Even with a gsxr600, fz1 and triumph trophy se; I love my fz6r in my stable yet. Gets great mpg for commuting to work and errands. Flicks into the corner and brakes good. The bike you ride was obviously used because it has clip is instead of the stock handlebar. Previous owner probably screwed up the brakes with bad bleeding and didn't get the geometry right. Granted it's not a race pony, but it's comfortable for just riding around.

This bike seems to have the perfect amount of power and also a great chassis, I just sold my 2016 Suzuki GSX s1000f, because when I rode it, it felt like holding a lit stick of dynamite.

I think it's funny how some people think they've outgrown their bikes simply because they reach its top speed in a consistent basis. I personally think you don't outgrow a bike until you can put your knee down on every corner. Then, and only then, do you get the privilege to say you've outgrown it. Otherwise, you're just another guy who got bored and wanted something faster (and that's okay, just don't say you outgrew it).

@southeastbikelife400
@southeastbikelife400 5 ай бұрын
It has nothing to do with dragging knee. Now that being said that does require a great amount of skill and time learning your specific bike. I'm am NOT saying ur wrong necessarily. But saying you have outgrown a bike totally depends on what you're doing with it. If you plan on mounting riding and track riding then yes or more so. But if all you care about is how fast you can go in a straight line then that has absolutely nothing to do with it

Your review is pretty spot on. I bought a 2012 FZ6R as my first bike and use it mainly for commuting back and forth to work (80mi/day). After a while I lowered the front a couple inches to give it more lean, I guess you'd say, which made it more comfortable to handle. I also swapped out the air filter to K&N and did the "airbox mod", which gave it a little more response. It's a blast to ride now because I can tuck and go fast (to me lol) or sit up and relax.

From experience with mine. The handling is amazing with the woodcraft clip ons. Ya its lower on the front end if you dont lower the back too but only by about an inch.

I got one of these as my first street bike. Great bike. Rode it an hour to work and didn't have any complaints. Comfy, smooth, fast enough to have some fun, and gets more attention than anything else I've ridden or driven. Eyeing up a gsxr600 as my next bike but highly recommend the for for a starter bike.

had an FZ6R as my first sport bike (started riding on a sportster 1200) and can remember watching your old videos Chase (learning how to turn my bike around on the kick stand and stuff like that) and it was great little bike to learn how to ride on. comfortable upright seating position, a good amount of controllable power. ***** I rode the FZ6R for roughly a year, it was my first bike and I have to say I absolutely loved it. I purchased it for commuting to work and didn't want a naked bike. My riding instructor for my MSF class suggested this bike as well for a starter bike and I have to say I'm incredibly happy I followed the suggestions. I'll be looking at a new bike in the near future but this bike certainly helped me get a good riding foundation.

Wassup Chase! You're right about the FZ6R being a good beginner bike. I've had mine for 2.5 years now, and I still love it for what it is...a good all-around bike. It's sporty enough for the twisties, yet comfy enough for daily commuting. However, it is down on power which is the primary reason for wanting to upgrade. Btw, I have enjoyed your vids for a while now. You, along with others, inspired me to motovlog as well. Keep up the good work.

To bangyahead1 I have the R3 and had the 6R. The 6R has a great motor, one of the smoothest around. The bike does lack a bit of " soul" since its so smooth. The R3 is more fun since going 70mph on a small bike feels faster than 70mph if you know what I mean. I have no regrets about switching bikes and having a R3 now, its much lighter and more practical bike for everyday commute etc.

My dad has been riding since the 1970s and used to ride cafe racer style bikes back in the day. He gave it up when I was a little kid and bought himself a cruiser a few years ago. Now he is looking to transition from cruisers to sportbikes but doesn't want to go to something as extreme as a full on supersport. He sat on one of these at a dealer and liked the way it felt. Would you say its a good choice for someone looking to transition from cruisers to sportbikes but doesn't wanna go extreme?

I'm a pretty big guy (6'2 and 230 lbs), so I'm afraid of getting something less than a 600 or 650 just because I feel like I would outgrow it a bit faster than I'd like. Hi Chase I'm looking to buy a new 2014-2015 motorcycle this spring. I was really considering an FZR6 or a YZF-R3 but upon researching bikes I stumbled upon your FZ-07 video and now I can't decide. You're enthusiasm while riding the FZ-07 really intrigued me and I loved the sound of that bike. Very quiet. And it is very light weight too. However, I really wanted a bike with at least a partial fairing and windshield and also an inline-four engine.(I'm aware the R3 has an inline two.) Another rider on the FZ-07 noted that it vibrated quite a bit, would you agree? I'm looking for a smoother ride. It'd be awesome if you could do a video ride on an R3 and compare your thoughts to the ninja 300, which looked way too slow for my tastes. But they are classifying the R3 as a super sport. Is it a true super sport? The reason I was considering the R3 is because I want to have something to learn wheelies on, but I suppose I could find a cheaper used bike for that. I have about four months of riding experience on my first and only bike, a 1992 Kawasaki Zephyr 750. I don't plan on doing a lot of highway riding but to have that option would be nice. I did do a 90 mile highway ride once and was burnt out by the end of it.(no fairing or windshield on the Zephyr) I'm just more looking to ride around town an be a hooligan, so to speak. I'd love to have an R6 or a 600RR but they are so expensive. I realize I don't have much riding experience but how do you feel about me on one of these considering my riding history? Also I'd like to hear your thoughts on an R6 vs a 600RR. I know you love your R6. Thanks!

I live in WV, so it's all mountains here and the bike does really well, it's smooth as Chase was saying, plenty of power to get up and go if needed, nothing compared statistically to the R6. but starting out this is a great great bike.

So, ***** , when would you recommend the sv 650 as a starter bike? Because this bike and the fz 07 is a little out of my price range. Or is there another bike you would recommend for a starter bike that has a low used price tag but still looks good & sporty? Thanks!!

Okay I'm just starting and trying to figure out what bike to get. I'm very familiar with riding with a clutch (dirt bikes, four wheelers), but never a street bike. One of my friends has a Ninja 600 and the other friend has an R1. I was thinking about getting one of these. But I've read the seat is lowered and I'm 6'2"-6'3". I'm so new to street bikes so I just need advice as to what would be best for me.

Some riders like myself are looking for a light touring bike that is easy to ride with out drama. Would this be a good candidate? I've been riding for over 40 yrs. and own a Street Triple ( which would be grate for this purpose if it were fitted with a fairing). I also own a Harley Street Glide that is perfect for touring long distances but a little too heavy for short two day trips. I also own my '12 Bonnieville but still doesn't have a full fairing and would look ridiculous with one.

Chase I want your opinion, I just got my license but prior to getting it. I rode on my friends gsxr600 for practice, and now I'm going to get my first bike. Since I had experience on intermediate bikes, I was thinking for price range getting the cbr650f or the fz6r. Would the cbr650f be a better choice or the fz6r?

that beeping is the jog dial of your 20S turning because its hutting your shoulder when you turn your head.. lol.. mine was doing the same thing.. just moved it.. I like the FZ6R looks, but the seating position and handlebar make me think it would be too upright.. great to see you doing bike ride reviews... like them a lot.

I have owned this bike for two years and absolutely love it. Handles great with plenty of power. I have been riding for over 40 years and this is the best all round bike in this 600cc range I have ever owned. I don't think his bike was running 100 percent or he would have been more positive on his review of the power.

I actually own an fz6r that I picked up at M. Motorsports in Lithia Springs this year. My second bike after a ninja 250, been riding 5 yrs. While having never ridden a super sport I must say this bike absolutely shreds in the mountains aaaand rides easy for hundreds of miles on end. Its all in the setup, move bar risers forward, put on some steep dual compound tires, double down shift, keep it above 8,000. However I do want something LIGHTER!

I noticed the fz6r you are driving has clip-on. In Canada, as far i know they all have handle bar. Is that a specific thing to the US model or its the 2015 maybe?

I use to ride a FZ6R. It is a fanstatic motor with a perfect stock sound. The only downside is it is a heavy beast with a high center of gravity.

So true.... the weight can be a major downside, but i also do believe it has it's pros as well like being a lil more stable and solid on the highway with those windy days.

hey chase! here in Europe we have the XJ6N (aka FZ6 naked version) im going to buy one tomorrow :D for some reason they are not sold in the US so im having a hard time finding a good quickshifter/powercommander and general additions for the bike. I love this bike its the best starter other than the 250-300cc bikes. after a while ill get an R6 eventually, but since im 6'4 and i have a restricted license (limited to 50HP)this bike is the better option because i can remove the limitation later. ride safe bro!

Chase...really appreciate the videos. I've been watching for a couple years now. I have an opportunity to buy a trustworthy coworkers 2009 FZ6R. It has 16,000km (from Vancouver, BC) but no ABS. I have zero riding experience besides the week long training and a day ride. What do ya think? If it had ABS then it's a no brainer right? Hard to say but I might go for it anyways. Keep up the great videos. Cheers

This bike is actually extremely flickable from my experience once you do some minor suspension work. I think the reason it doesnt feel like that to this guy is because they had to lower the front end for the clip on handlebars but didnt even it out by lowering the back end along with it.

I've had this bike for a couple of years (13000KM on it) now and I can tell you this bike is built like a tank and weighs like one too. if you are a beginner and plan on stepping up to a super sport, i would recommend ktm390 instead though. fz6r ergonomics are pretty much of a typical sport tourer (1000mile road trip in 2 days and i was quite comfortable the whole way). my 2 cents y'all

Chaseontwowheels Im planning to go for a bike when i turn 18. If my dad agrees lol. But i have honestly only been on the back of a bike. Never driven a bike. Honestly i dont know how to work the gears or anything. But i only get one bike. So im looking for a bike that the throttle just goes all the way to give u what u want. Speed is what im looking for. But i think my budget is gonna be under $10k. What do you prefer? Also i like bikes with the aggressive looks. But unfortunately i dont know anything about bikes. So idk what to look for and what bikes to think about. Which bike do you prefer? Thanks a lot
