have you tried a BT scanner and torque or something similar yet?

Well, being a Kindle, there's not much I can do with it unless they figure out a way to root it. It's definitely a hardware install success, but software-wise, it leaves a bit to be desired. There is no GPS built into the unit, so I'm reliant on a GPS-over-wifi tethering solution. This isn't too bad, since it's reliant on the phone for a data connection anyway, but since I can't automate it (no root means no Tasker), it's a few button pushes to initiate the GPS tether. My headunit (Pioneer Z110BT) can only be tethered to one device for bluetooth audio streaming, so I'm stuck using the headphone jack, which does not give me the ability to control playback like bluetooth audio streaming can, nor is there any pausing of the playback when I receive a call. Since the tablet is permanently mounted in there, and my home wifi doesn't reach to where my car is parked, I still rely on my cellphone for podcasts. So, all in all, as it is now, the tablet is best used as a GPS screen, which I suppose does do the job of replacing what was removed, but it does not live up to what I want out of a device in that location.

I’m working on a similar project on my G but I can’t figure out why the screen doesn’t go up or down on its own?

In this year (2005) the screen has its own power connector, which is independent of the radio or navigation system, so if it's not working right, you may have damaged something or left it unplugged. If the screen is up when the car is turned off, it should come back up once the car is turned back on.

So the previous owner installed an aftermarket stereo system, and I’m not entirely sure on what he did but I think he did something to the connection of the Navi. Where is the Navi supposed to be connected to, foe example is it connected to the car’s battery or is it supposed to be connected to the DVD player?

@@emmanuelaugustin4752 There's a connection between the DVD unit for the navigation system, but the screen lift mechanism is separate from it.

hey bro so I found out that there is a guy on xda developers that is willing to work on a method to root the HD6 but he needs an hd6. I was wondering if you were willing to help me buy one to send it to him?

Good luck, I am considering swapping the fire HD 6 for a Samsung Galaxy mega or HTC one max , so I only need my phone tethered for network connectivity instead of both network and GPS.

Tips on the software, TetherGPS lite on the hd6, full version of TetherGPS on your phone - $3. AutomateIt on the hd6 to alter the screen timeout when power is applied or removed, and I also had automateit start Waze 5 seconds after TetherGPS, giving me enough time to start the client, since it sometimes gets stopped while the tablet sleeps. Waze sometimes has times where it gets super crash happy too. Very random.
