GA4 Audience Triggers in 2023: Use Them For Conversion Tracking: Audiences Part 2

Did you know that Google Analytics can fire an event every time someone new satisfies your audience conditions and enters your audience? It's true! This is called an "Audience trigger event" and it can be very helpful for audience management, conversion tracking, and more.
Here's how to use GA4 Audience Triggers. Let's get it!

Hey Zach, I've watched a ton of your videos over the last few weeks and they are really helpful, but you have to fix the audio levels in them! I have to turn the sound way up, but then I get killed by the in-stream ad volume. thanks for the informative videos.

Dan, you're so right man. I'm the worst with recording and audio levels. I think I got it fixed starting with videos beginning in mid Feb of 2023, but prior to that I know they are all over the place. I'm sorry about that. I hope it's better now for new videos at least. Why do i get this message (why impose a limit?): You have exceeded the number of audience triggers allowed for your property.

You can have up to 20 audience triggers in a property. Here's the Google support article: support.google.com/analytics/answer/9934109?hl=en Why have the limit? I don't know exactly, but it's likely due to processing power / storage limits for GA4. There are limits on other things like custom dimensions as well, and I'd imagine it's the same kind of thing.

Hi Zach! I have an audience trigger set-up for viewing some of my product pages. I need to create a conversion out of it, when 5 or more of this event triggers in one session for any user. Any tip how to do that? Couldn't hear a thing on this video from a mobile phone. Just followed the screen. Thanks!

I'd create a new segment based on the page_view event with the event count parameter so that event count is greater than 4. And then change the condition scoping to "within the same session." You could then create the audience trigger and conversion from that segment. If it's important to you to only look at product pages, then I think you'd want to create a new event first for product_page_view and then follow the steps above. @@RawHasan Have you seen this GA4 support article? support.google.com/analytics/answer/12844695?hl=en You can add conditions or event parameters to existing events with the "Modify event" tool. I haven't used it myself, but I think it might be able to help with what you're trying to do. The two parameters that I believe would apply to your situation are 'currency' and 'value'.
