GA4 Link Click Tracking (2024 full tutorial)

GA4 tracks external link clicks by default. Internal link clicks, however, require custom work. Here's how to create a custom event to track internal link clicks and then build a report showing ALL links (internal plus external).

Thank you so much for this, Zack If a website uses parameters for applying different location filters, will this work as internal link click tracking too?

The best way to find out would be to open preview and debug mode in GTM and see what happens when you apply those location filters. My sense is that this particular event would not capture those filters being applied. But there should be another way to get that information if you can find the right interaction to track and record. Good luck!
